If we keep a natural gas powered fireplace being turn on 24 hours a day, do you think our skin's moisture will be negatively affected? Is there any scientific proof out there?

not sure what you mean by that.

If your fireplace runs off of natural gas and it's sealed using a heat tempered glass, you only get some radiant heat emissions through the glass. The moisture generated as a byproduct of burning natural gas (remember: perfect burning produces CO2 and H2O, with small amounts of CO presence in the exhaust gas as part of the combustion byproducts).

I don't see the possibility of those H2O increasing the humidity in the surrounding air if that's what you mean by it. If you are experiencing dry skin due to extremely low humidity, my recommendation is to buy a humidifier.

there are 3 types of humidifiers: (1) hot steam type, not good if you have pets or children around (it will cause severe burns; (2) cold moisture type: noisy(due to a fan) and not that great, you also have to replace the wick core on a periodic basis which costs quite a bit of money; (3) ultrasonic type: this is one of the best IMHO, silent, effective. You have to descale it on a regular basis using white vinegar on the transducer bowl.

Think im experiencing dry skin. The humidfire i got requires salt. Dont know which type it is, but the moisture builds up condensation in 窗邊

Thanks

of all the types of heating, electrical (infrared, or the ones that you can see a glowing red coloured filament wires) are the worst in terms of drying out your skin.

The only way to overcome that is to constantly rehydrate yourself and also buy a humidifier. the ones that add salt are the poorest IMHO. Ultrasonic ones are best.

don't worry about condensation on your window/window sill for this is somewhat the price you have to pay in order to overcome your dry skin issue.

(*if itchy, get Gold Bond medicated cream (green or yellow bottle) and it helps a lot ...I used the green one for many years during winter times to keep my dry, itchy skins under control *)
