bought a stainless steel Sakura 30" 767 -II during Xmas sale, works out to be fairly good (replaced my ailing Sakura 727, which wasn't working properly (not broken, but just being the bottom of the series and the performance was just so-so).
Another sister brand is made by Sakura is called Topline, not sold anywhere but priced reasonably well. If you are looking for stainless steel version (not island type range vent), consider looking for Topline.
pm me if you need an authorised reseller's # (he's an installer).
I checked out pacific, also the one on the ground level of aberdeen centre: both sucked in terms of pricing and performance.
I'd go with Sakura simply because (a) they are still made in Taiwan, better than the other main country in terms of quality and aftersales servicing (starting from 767 and upwards: motors are warranted for life); (b) service parts are easy to come by and still relatively cheap.

i was choosing between pacific and sakura....bought a sakura R8168F during Christmas sale, replaced the previous one...probably less than 100cfm, made a huge difference for an open kitchen.
the auto mode (controls speed automatically) is very handy
check your exhaust duct size before buying any of them...if the original duct isn't wide enough, a new range hood may not help much
the sakura retail price varies, ask different retailers before committing buying one.作者: tsawwassen 時間: 2013-2-28 23:20

we just bought a crown. apartment sized hood fan
they came to install it and took our old hoodfan/microwave away.
we are pretty happy with it.
it's very easy to clean as you can just take the 2 pieces of stainless steel thing off and throw it in the washer
the rest is metal so can easily cleaned http://www.flickr.com/photos/93682389@N06/8518261850/in/photostream作者: 布小熊 時間: 2013-3-1 09:41

That looks really nice!
Wonder if this or the sakura is better for apartment. I can totally give up using a microwave for a better hood fan.作者: B2L2 時間: 2013-3-1 11:34

Where I can find "Crown"?作者: pkphilip 時間: 2013-3-2 14:44
I think you can find Crown in Continental in Richmond
I am using the U2II from Sakura at home. OK.
There are 3 vent sizes in common, 4", 6" and 8". 6" fits almost all range hood and if you want something better, Vent-a-Hood is something I want but it only works on 8" vent due to the power of the fans.
