I don't know why but rotary is a curse here...the RX-8 is a joke...

What I meant was the reliability of the RX8 rotary, stall, hard start in cold, flooding, oil consumption, bad fuel econ, etc.... Also, not a lot of shops want to touch that engine.

Rotaries are higher maintanence than piston engines, and if you don't religiously stick to the maint schedule, the engine goes bad very soon. I know any engine without proper maint will not last but rotaries will die much quicker! The resell value speaks for itself too...that's why it's so cheap used.

RX 8 isn't that bad in reliablity wor .. ( but wasn't good in RX 7 )

Few of my friends/co worker, they drive RX8, it is a cheap car tp start with, with good performance and handling (not bad la) and good style ..

What else can u buy for under $40K new? and around $20K to get a used one now ...

But RX7 .. um .. I had one .. and lots of my buddy, they drove RX7 ( FC/FD etc ) back to the 90's .. great awesome car, I still want an FD .. but they are not reliable .. it scares me ..

I still remember when I did test driving on FD in 1992 ..

  best car I had driven back then ..  ( better then Stealth Turbo, 300 TT, NSX, Supra, 325is, 964, 328/348 etc sports car ... closest one was actually 944 Turbo IMO! )

Too bad, hard to find a good FD  ( all smashed ..  or only ****ty RHD .. )

P.S. tons of RHD Supra for sell lately! ( 93 )  they are nice ..  in one hand .. low $20K for one is temping .. but on the other hand, $20K plus to buy 15 yr old RHD .. but a LHD supra turbo are still selling for $30K ..

I guess it depends how long have your friends own their cars and how they do their maint.
