and for other companies, it really depends
some companies might have separate systems for US/CAN

You really have to contact the US vendor (where you purchased your merchandise) to find out more before you proceed to arranging for a refund or something.
No two vendors would have the same policy RE: refunds/returns/exchanges US purchased goods in Canada.
