Has anyone been to the Chinese Consulate General office on W. Broadway and Fir Street in the morning for HK identity card and HK passport? I am filling out the overseas application for both. I have called them many times to confirm the things that I need to bring with me but they never answer the phone. I just want to confirm some info. before I go:
Do I need 2 photos for the identity card (smaller size) and 3 photos for the passport (larger size)?
How much does it cost for getting the HK passport? Do I need to give them cheque?
I don't have an HK identity card nor HK passport; do I just bring my HK birth certificate for the overseas applications?
What else do I need to bring and that I need to know? This is my first time applying for both and that's why I wasn't sure.
Thanks everyone for sharing their experience.作者: billykid 時間: 2015-8-13 18:09
You never had HK ID or HK passport before....and you think you can apply for both at the same time? All I can say is....good luck!作者: pkphilip 時間: 2015-8-19 07:58
When I went there to apply, it was nothing but hassles. First, the web site doesn't show all the required documents required; if you miss anything, they will kick you out. Second, the attitudes from the staff were not friendly. They keep saying they just take applications "on behalf" of the government and they are "just following orders" to do their jobs.
Please make sure you bring multiple copies of the documents, otherwise you will have to run down to Staples or pay the over-inflated price for copying services in the office.
I don't remember all the details, but I remember i had to take photo copies of the first 10 pages of my passport.
