A woman spent two days in intensive care after she claimed a toilet exploded under her at a karaoke bar.

The woman, known as Li, suffered a deep gash on her thighs and legs after the toilet broke in a bar in Chibi city in Hubei province in China.

She was bleeding heavily when she was taken to hospital.

The woman was in surgery for three hours and spent another 48 hours in intensive care before her condition was declared stable.

She claimed the toilet exploded underneath her as soon as she sat down to use it, but the owner of the karaoke bar accused her of making up the incident.

The bar claimed she broke the toilet and injured herself by standing on it while squatting down to pee because she didn’t want her bottom to touch the rim.

A manager of the karaoke bar said it had paid for the woman’s medical fees.

However, the woman insisted the toilet exploded under her.
