Some Vancouver residents are cleaning up broken car parts today, after a driver crashed into a trio of parked cars early Friday morning.
Novelist Anakana Schofield had just returned home from a trip to Europe when she heard the crash.
She said it was a loud, startling noise outside her apartment in the 800-block of West 16th Avenue, near Oak Street.

'It was horrific … the sound of that car flipping will just stay with me forever," said Schofield. "It's a miracle to think somebody could come out of that alive."
Schofield discovered that a young woman had rolled over her white Mazda after crashing into three parked cars on the street. Schofield's green Subaru was one of them.

Car was to be used for driving lessons
"My son … is scheduled to have his first driving lesson on Saturday," said Schofield. "But no one cares about cars, we care about people."
She says two men riding in a taxi behind the young woman's car got out to help, before first responders arrived to take her to hospital.
"I just really would be very worried about the driver of that car in terms of the injuries she sustained," said Schofield.
The driver of the car was not seriously injured, although witnesses say she appeared to be intoxicated. Vancouver Police are investigating the collision.
