Anyone plan to go to Aberdeen Center, the opening celebration Beijing 08.08.08 in the early morning @ 7am?

If it is live broadcast, then it should be 5 in the morning.
8 in the morning should be recording.

I wonder is CBC will be live broadcast Opening Ceremony on 8/8? I just checked on their website.

In Canada only CBC has the rights to broadcast. Probably they will use the feed from CBC.

If it is TVB, there is still a chance to air it for free.

When did someone say they didn't have to pay for it? The Richmond city hall is part of this event.

Richmond City Hall is only promoting Winter Olympics in 2010, not Beijing Olynpics.
I think it will be TVB feed instead of CBC feed.
They should pay to air, but lot less to TVB than CBC

At a press conference, Richmond mayor and the boss of Fairchild appeared together to promote the Olympics. They already said the feed will be from CBC as they have exclusive rights. Whether they need to pay, or how much they pay does not really affect you.

The only way to get "live" is to be there in the stadium.

It is quite likely China's TV stations will add more than the usually delay for editing and transmission, as they will also add at least a half hour just in case they need to completely shut down communications out of China. ;D

Who gives a crap if it is not Live? Either you watch it there or watch a recording.

Then you hide yourself away, walk away from the people who are happily discussing how exciting the game was. And you shut your ears and eyes and go home to paly the recorder and enjoy yourself tonight.

Even if you go to CBC website, they don't even tell you the exact time of the show. Probably, there will some talking by commentators before the ceremony in Beijing starts.

Yes, you are right, the ceremony is controlled by Beijing, they just sit and wait.
Once it is on air, then it is live.
Not two hours delay live.

Of course, CBC paid for the broadcasting rights.

when is the real live anyway?

i am getting weird messages: The Vancouver Sun says show starts at 5am, the Shaw cable listings on TV says 4am, the Sing Tao Vancouver magazine says 4am, someone here said 6am.

all the above listings are published for BC/ Vancouver audiences so i am sure it is not the time zone differences...

i gotta get up early to catch the show...

There were so many people who went to this successful event. There were thousands of people who went there so early in support of the Olympics. The parking lots were full that they had to park elsewhere.

Your grudge against Fairchild is clouding your views. Please do not be so childish. All those people were there to support the Olympics. Its not like they were there to support Fairchild.
