由新買到現在, 只換engine oil, air filter, rear brake pads once, & brake fluid flush/replace once, 4 new all season tires

How to do that ??

Auto can down shift la.. just kill the tranny much faster caz it's not meant to do it anyways.

OE pads can last 50000km at least, at least my OE still have 50% left when I switched to Hawks at about 50000km.

73k for one set of front pad and all city driving seems to be high but it depend on how you brake.  If you always brake lightly, then the brake force may be distributed to the back more and wear out your rears first.

yup, if u are always easy on ur brake, front doesn't wear out that quick as initial braking is applied to rear (like motorcycle), then after a certain point it will go to the front....

so if you always go high speed and hard brake, i could have finished a set of front pad during a track day while rear still have 70%...yes, they were both brand new!

looks like u are missing out a lot of service, coolant, cabin / pollen filter, brake fluid flush should be more than once, automatic transmission fluid flush (well, honda says do it at 96k, drain and refill 3 times then finish it up with a 4th drain and fill ~ everytime has to go out for a 3 to 5km test drive; wonder who really does that and how much they are going to charge u lol; because of that, why not change it every 24k instead? it's still going to be doing it 4 times by 96k, it will probably be "cleaner" to do it at 24k interval...only cost u maybe like extra $6x?) etc etc

how often do we do the coolant?(last minute wise)
*r we talking about a coolant flush?

hmm, they said the transmission fluid and engine coolant can be doing at the same time (at 96,000km)
is it acceptable?

i have a feeling that the Original Equipped front brake pads will last 96000km...
i think thats a record

*i'm not sure if its the automotive technology:
nowadays, 1) sparkplugs last like forever 176,000km
2) engine oil service possibily last from 8000km up to 16000 km
3) etc......
compare to old days, things changed.
consumers can now save a bit of time & money, which is good.

coolant would still be recommanded to be at 48k interval, have seen radiator clogged due to dirty coolant ~ yes, their structure last longer than before but it will still get dirty and need change...u can choose to change coolant every 48k, keep the engine at optimal operating temp (longer engine life) or let the rad clog and things follow after...

u can also choose to change ur transmission fluid at 96k, but that's why lots of ppl kept saying honda's transmission are weak; to me it's pretty fine and need lots of lubrication by good condition fluid...

96k for automatic with city driving is a record, but make sure u get them inspected and dun go metal to metal; have seen ppl has only changed brake pad once up to 240k, and he is still on his original clutch like shutterbug...lol...but more than 80% chance ppl dun have that "luck"...

spark plug last till 176k, but honda would charge u to take them out and clean it ~ cuz carbon gets build up and it's hard for the coil, once again u can choose to replace them at 176k and possibly coil will go before that (and mechanic will recommand u might as well do the plug)....

engine oil service with regular mineral oil is still at 8k for the longest, when they step up to synthetic they put down 16k to 25k ~ yes synthetic last longer during the same period but it would break down THEN burn after a certain period / mileage; it's funny that BMW gives u a new bottle of engine oil in your trunk because they can never last till 25k without topping ~ unless u never check, even coolant would have needed to be top up before 20k so again, it depends on how u believe the "theory"....

example: did an oil change for my friend co-worker's 08 civic sedan, c 9 driven, at 5400km the engine is getting noisy and oil is BLACK; friend noticed that cuz i told him to do his first oil change at 3xxxkm and he has 12k now (with regular mineral oil change 4 times), he can tell the diff right the way when another one is "poor maintained"....u just have to experience that, when the oil is changed more often and u can tell a diff, that means the old oil is already towards the end of its life ~ why makes everything to the last min and wears everything out? just like u can always wait till last min for brake job / tires change, ur safety and if anything goes wrong ~ accident, will cost u big bucks!

Philip is right, I would stay away from down shifting if possible. I remember a mechanic friend once told me: "would you rather do a brake job or a clutch job?"

depends on what kinda downshifting u are doing, i know a friend who has a 300whp WRX and he has only gone thru one set of brake pad + still on his stock clutch; his downshift is soooo smooth, yet no riding lol

another friend with a light mod 2.5RS, also drive soooo smooth yet his clutch was gone at 80k...

i really want to remove the dust/pollen cabin filter....

is its location hard to reach?

i always hav my windows  or sunroof open, so i think the pollen filter is not neccessary...

Honda accord 4 ban auto 拖波拖到七彩... and the gear box is not died yet ???

U better trade it soon .. the tranny won't last long.

Downshifting to stop is really unnecessary and I don't do it myself.  Brakes are cheaper.  Only use engine brake when I go down long steep hills where I could possibly overheat my brakes.  Otherwise, brake all the time!

Downshifting to turn, I do either heel-toe or "HK taxi driver style", which is downshift just before I accelerate out of a turn.

Cabin filter is actually a useful thing besides cleaning the air.  It also protects your blower motor from dirt and debris.

I used to downshift all the time with my V8 Grand Cherokee which doesn't help big time, cuz the car is so heavy...(with at least 500lbs+ mod on lift, and bumper).  I AT is however doing very well, but I do change the AT at least 4 times with Amsoil within the 120,000KM, after every 4x4 season.

Anyway, I also downshift 200% of the time with my STi (stick shift only) since day 1, of course I rev match as perfectly as I can.  as far as I concern, the clutch is still strong, and my brake is at 50% (with a little track day + autoX), car is at 33,000 miles at this time.

i really dun want to see those 佰府 & 阿嬸 踩brake過彎.

heel toe in track = advance駕駛 = good for you.
heel toe in (50km/h limit) city = a waste of gasoline imo (unless u want attention from others, or u want to practice the skill)
heel toe in city with pedestrians gonna be dangerous because of the noobs(who think they are good), i guarantee.

anyways, mine is an automatic 4 door family sedan. so, no heel toe for me.
efficient driving > heel toe.

Heel toe around town ??  I hope you mean on track ..   lol

Even on track ..  nowaday car .. dont really need much heel and toe ..

踩brake過彎 is common sense ..  even driving 4 times more HP ..  I still 踩brake過彎 ...  rather then 拖波 ..  $2K for brake is better then $15K for tranny ...

I guess I am old now... lol .. I was driving like an idiot when I was teenage too .. Rx7 .. Celica GTS . AE86 .. CRX .. Sirroco .. 325 ..  those aggresive days were gone ..

Haha...why not do heel toe in city?  Waste gas?  I think a lot more people waste more gas than I do, especially the ones driving high power cars and driving excessive speed in stop and go traffic.  Get attention from others?  LOL...I'm pass that stage already lor.  Actually, heel toe helps with smoothness so it's not only for track.  Of course I don't do it every turn, I normally do it when I want to "catch" the yellow left turn light, so I speed up until right before the turn then heel toe.

do u guys actually know what heel toe is? there is no point to do so around the city unless u always keep ur car in 1st or 2nd, at the most 3rd gear ~ without enough rpm unless ur brake stops like **** then maybe u can still have enough time to do heel toe, most car with better braking power in such a low rpm the car actually slowed down too much for u to heel toe (if i do want to heel toe maybe i have to downshift two gears lol)....

rev match is another thing, it's actually better than riding on your clutch for the smoothness during downshift and do u want to pay the extra penny on gas or riding ur clutch and let it wears?

i HOPE u mean

Huh...what do you mean?

Just a random search:
"Heel-toe or heel-and-toe double-declutching is used before entry into a turn while a vehicle is under braking, preparing the transmission to be in the optimal gear to accelerate out of the turn. One benefit of downshifting before entering a turn is to eliminate the jolt to the drivetrain, or any other unwanted dynamics. The jolt will not upset the vehicle as badly when going in a straight line, but the same jolt while turning may upset the vehicle enough to cause loss of control if it occurs after the turn has begun. Another benefit is that "heel-and-toeing" allows you to downshift at the last moment before entering the turn, after you have started braking and the car has slowed, so the engine speed when the lower gear is engaged will not be too high."

It's not really "needed" in the city...but at the same time a lot of "performance cars" are not "needed" too.

I think more than half of the people won't drive 50km/h in city!  But what piss me off is some people drive at 40 something and still step on the brakes... Of course heel toe is not for the average joe driver...if you can't do an emergency stop during heel toe you shouldn't do it at all cuz you cannot control the car!  You don't need to drive near redline to use heel toe, you can use this technique for smoothness too, do you see the point?  I've been driving stick for so many years now everything comes as second nature.  Did your driving instructor tell you to check for pedestrians way before you turn?  That's driving 101.

The tranny won't blow up right away but eventually you wear the clutches inside much quicker than normal.  Even the slightest downshift, say 2000rpm diff, there will be wear and tear.  Tranny is not hot?  Man...you should feel the tranny fluid coming out a car after it's been drove around.  Of course it won't be close to engine oil temp but still it's pretty warm.  What do you think tranny fluid coolers are for?  Heat is big killer for auto trans, and if you don't change the fluid often, it's even hotter with more friction.
