I used to be a Petro-Canada customer because of their petro-point program. I got tons of free bottle water from them.

Since Petro-Canada no longer gives out discount, I switched to Chevron which still keep the 3.5 cent off promotion.

Yesterday, I went to Shell. They don't have discount but they don't charge tax.

So Shell should be a better option because tax saving is always greater than 3.5 cent off per liter?

Second question, which gas outlet has the better chemical formula for our cars?

i just have 2 chevrons near my house....and i see the Chevron with Techron commercial all the time...can't be that bad....

Oh ! I didn't know PetroCanada has ended their discount ! thanks for reminding, I didn't notice that from my receipts.. I have the PetroCan mastercard, so i still get 2cents off per litre.. Maybe I should consider going to Chevron next time....
does superstore gas still have that 6.5cents per litre coupon for superstore purchases? i think it is a good deal.. and there is no problem with the gas there.. can't feel the difference between that and petrocan's....

It is hard to find a SHELL station in lower mainland, at least it is harder to find than Chevron and PetroCan...

they dun give direct discount to customers anymore. they have a NEW plan which is crap in my opinion.

you take a big chunk of your petro-point and exchange for a card which allows you to save 5cent/liter for your next 100 liter or something. People cant save much from it! Imagine how much money you have to spend to earn those points for that stupid card.

Plus, Petro Canada always overpriced itself anyway. I was on my way back home tonight. I fed my car at Chevron priced at 98.9 with 3.5 cents discount. Petro was @99.9~~ do the math.

I know you have many cars? But don't think they all need Premium Gas, which I suppose you know premium will not do you any good in many NA cars that require only regular!? So, buy smart =D

BTW, how's the price drop in Vancouver right now?! I use Chevron 99% of the time using 92. Our price went down (For 92) from the highest of $4.69 a gallon to $2.69 gallon.

Which is approx. $0.71us/L from $1.24us/L

Lowest of regular at Chevron is $0.66us/L (89)

only 94 chevron for my car, as i have bad experience with shell / husky and mohawk (fuel starve thru a high speed corner, with less than 1/3 of a tank)....no problem at all with chevron...

and i still use 92 on my 87 required car / bikes

i topped up my gas at Petro Canada last night and the 3.5 cent discount still exists. the price on the sign was at 98.9, at the machine, it was 95.4? i used the fuel savings card, and with my citi mastercard...it took a total of 7 cents off. end up paying 88.4 cents a litre...

Can you explain to me how bad gas causes that? Isn't that a problem with the fuel pump assembly?

you redeem the card with your petropoints. 15,000 points for 5cents off per litre for 200 litres, works out better than redeeming for a gift card. there was also a promotion for me, so it is just 10,000 points for that card. you can always reload it, it will be 14,000 points afterwards.

some says all gas station's gas are the same, from the same place basically...but is that true?
They are different because of their add on chemical, isn't it?

I always use Petro Canada 92 but it's really bad to see the 3.5cents discount gone! petro point can be exchanged for asia miles and I think it's good deal. The cards that give out air miles most of them are not free.

if it's the fuel pump assembly, it should happen when i use any brand of gas; so far i have only had Chevron, Petrocan (few times), Husky / Mohawk (also few times), and 76 (after i leave the race track in seattle). Only happens when i use Husky / Mohawk, Chevron and others will not happen till at least under 1/4 tank.

diff brand gas has diff additive, ecu will pick up the "diff" and do all the necessarily adjustment; maybe i need some special "tuning" in order to use mohawk / husky lol (sorry, i think it's my stock ECU doesn't like the diff of their additives, but i dun see how much diff it is compares to any other Honda's)...

It's really strange, I still have no clue of how your car does that on diff gas. Do you have an aftermarket ECU? Even if diff additives, how does high speed cornering or 1/3 tank full change anything? Shouldn't it happen at all times too? In a split second, the ECU will adjust the fuel mixture. So how can the engine starve so bad with diff gas? Do you think there's a "break" in your ECU mapping?

not only on my Civic, but also on some friend's Subaru Impreza; usually experience at high speed cornering with less than 1/2 gas (one 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS even experienced problem with 2/3 gas, car was less than 20k back then); dun ask me how that could happen but apparently there is sth there

I am running stock ECU, maybe i need better mapping than what honda tuned for my engine lol...

still remember Shell used to have "that" additive (forgot what it was) and that could cause damage to your fuel pump? it's chemical of course it has a diff...

Chevron is pretty straight forward with their discount. everyone gets 3.5 cent off.

generally i'd go for Chevron, cuz i believe their gas is considered best quality by everyone, if im not mistaken. Esso or Shell ONLY if i notice their prices are cheaper than the Chevrons that I pass by.

Shell is good ar .. my wife goes Shell.. but I always ask her to go Mohawk or Husky.
