To be more professional, artists really need not to mention whatever God in this kind of public events, unless it is for any religious witnessing speech. To say so, thanks God for what? Do they think they can be awarded all because of God's blessing but nothing more? So that's why many other competitors didn't get any award cuz they might not blessed by God? Therefore, in order to win an award, better believe in God?
After all, now more people know why mentioning God in a inappropriate way is disgusting to the public.

我覺得呢個係個人既選擇, 有人攞獎會多謝父母, 有人攞獎會多謝另一半, 有人攞獎會多謝神, 有乜問題?
is it disgusting? it is disgusting when you feel it is.

Honestly, it's about "common interest". Everybody has parents (even orphans, they might have unknown parents or passed away parents, but definitely not born from rock), people would have bigger chance to share the same feelings. In fact, not everyone believes in God, or the same God being thanked, but on the other hand, mentioning a God might upset other people believing in other God(s) or no God. Those artists just are not smart enough to please more audiences but instead, would give negative impression and upset certain group of people.

respect the freedom of speech

maybe they are annoying, but they might only be on the stage for that only one time in their life, so, why not let them be.....

In Christian point of view:

榮耀交比上帝, to 多謝音樂的恩賜 and acknowledge whatever he/she's earning in terms of love from fans or $$ are really gifts from God.

Doing so can also avoid thinking him/herself is the all mighty and powerful one because he/she is so proudly popular, 免得自大

雖然我對某D神教行為感到反感,但係係頒獎禮咁講我又覺得冇咩問題嘅。。。你唔會因為個歌星信咩教而唔聽佢嘅歌,睇佢個明星臉架~

Same as EDC's case. Why so many people think he did "wrongful" pictures? Since it's a personal thing anyways. Yes, because they are artists to the public. They are not individual nobodies. To thank God in such a high profile tone doesn't necessary mean how truly and faithfully they are devoted to their God. But instead, some people might think they're even more fake.
Commercial-wise, they really need not to do it, and it's not too smart to do it.

咁有無人會得獎之後話: 我好...好感謝觀世音菩蕯
想比人知道佢哋頭上有一個光環 o羊?
作者: bluntbro    時間: 2009-3-2 15:20

it's a hip trend i think..to love god...i would be very exited to hear one start saying:

"Thank you, Allah.   Allah! Allah! Allah! IL-Hamdu-Allah!”
"

or:  "Million thanks to Buddha…Xia Xia Po Sha...Or li To Fuh"
