Just want to know what camera do you guys use.
Please pick 1 from Brand and 1 from Type for the camera the you are currently and mostly using.

for myself, I am using sony dslr

....whoever pick "BRAND :" or "TYPE :" is retarded....

how about telling us why you pick your camera?

for me, my dad is a minolta user (old manual slr), so it is more like a 情意結 for getting a sony covered minolta.

I read a report from the magazine eight years ago that Canon had the best colour tone. I usually take family pictures therefore I go for Canon.
However when in vacation trip, I will bring along my Nikon SLR.

始終都係canon 多，因為轉入數碼時代，canon D 科技都快人一步，食左頭啖湯，集合左一大班人用，用開就轉吾到
其實e家各牌子都差吾多，每部相機的市場定位又好賤，好難選擇

當時就係驚買咗D40會後悔而買咗貴少少o既400D，好彩無揀錯！
反而而家真係已經無幾可聽到人用D40....@_@

應該唔會掛.....
對nikon無咩研究，懶得再去由頭研究過佢o的機同鏡~XD

(聽講副廠都出左好多內置motor既lens比D40, D40x)

maybe you've moved up a level already...keke (actually my friend upgraded from D40 to D90 too)
but according to flickr, the usage of D40 for this year has increased.

Um ....

For SLR, I mostly use Canon, due to the size for my hand... (Canon has the thickest/tallest Grip in general)

Lens ... I prefer to stay with factory, even many cool M42 around .. just lazy to do MF

I mostly use Prime, just because of clarity, and size, 35 and 135 are my favorite range.

Still want a MF .. doesn't matter digital or not, especially digital quality is still not close to film yet.

For DC .. FUJI and PANA !!

not many ppl use pentax and fuji ga.
i have a fuji s6000fd. love that camera. it fit my hand better than my pentax k100d.
also just sold my canon sx100. still looking for a compact to replace the sx100.
thinking of fuji f200exr, little expensive. the f100fd lack the manual control. suggestion??

Still ..  if for LONG run, the "system" is more important then "body" ..

Even a 4 yr old EOS 5D, IQ ( image quality ) is pars as D3/D700 etc ...
20D IQ is also as good as newest 50D .. ( rather then resolution )

Most camera within last 3 yr .  WB is pretty good ..  main improvement for "NON CANON" brand .. is noise level ...

To give credit to Oly / Sony / Pentax those minority ... they make cheap and good camera now .. ^_^

By the way, in general, Sigma is "ng duck"  ( I have used Sigma for 20 yrs ) I mean, they are not bad, they used to offer low price lens, with ok quality .. now, they offer good sharp lens, but almost same price as C/N  ....

Sigma is good at wide angle, and some macro .. ( prime ) however .. their colour is still "ng door dim" I guess it is just my problem, as I dont really know how to PS ..  so  "colour" is very important to me ... more then ultimate sharpness.

I also got a sigma Flask as well, (good price, for 1/2 price of a SB800, and made in japan, not bad to try out)  it works ok, and color tempeture is not bad, however, it does "miss fire" or "missed fire" once a while ....

Well .. you get what you pay ... not many 50 F1.8 or 28-105 ... cheap and good !

What I meant was, driving expensive cars doesn't necessary mean the drivers can drives well, but also doesn't necessary mean all drivers who drive expensive cars are 敗家. Using expensive stuff is not a sign to judge anything at all.

Regarding for photography, I agree a nice photo is a piece of art. However, what called "nice" might not usually please everyone in the world. But the thing I can be sure is, using expensive camera doesn't mean a person can take good photos; but using cheap camera can also take nice photos. All depends the person behind the camera.

D3X D3 D700 even D300 ... they are not easy to use ... for 90% people ... hey wont evev use 90% potential of a D60 ...

Just buy what your bank acc. allows. Asking for which camera to buy really depends on how much spare cash you have.

Just like car .. people buy nice car, not to enjoy the handling/control/quality/style/design/comfort etc anymore .. but to tell people .. " I HAVE A CHICKEN FEET TOO ! "

Same as DSLR USERS ... look how many free walkers using SONY! IT IS A SONY bor!

Honestly... If someone is very seriuosly about learning photography, I do not recommend and sort of point & shoot, because you can't learn much from them other than composition..! The relative f-stop / Depth of field just isn't enough to show the difference IMHO. Starting with any sort of DSLR or even the 4/3 would be the least.
As regarding to expesnive gears vs less expensive model..! I strongely believe that ones should never go out any buy the most expensive camera model...! We as photographers should really out-grow our less expensive camera gears before upgrading, that's a learning process.

Not really, but if you really want to go back, consider 6x6 or large format. I think that's where you can see the advantage of film cameras over DSLR. And let me know what you have decided, since I would eventually pickup a 6x6 myself as well...!

I bought my Jeep knowing that it's an off road SUV, so I mod. it and go do some 4 wheeling...! Then I have my Subaru STi knowing that it's a sport car.., so I take it to the track and auto-cross...! I bought my camera knowing that it can take great pictures.. so I end up shooting wedding for money, and now want to get into fashion photography in more studio lighting..! But then, I am the type of person who really enjoy learning new things...! And enjoy to become better with my own hobbies..! (BTW, I don't do this under any sort of stress, which is the key to play & learn)

Nowadays .. sigh ..

If you mean the whole "SYSTEM" then I do agree, Canon EOS system, still the best in SLR lately ... but Nikon is right there!
