right now...only one left ja...and one eye has cataract and that eye has lost all the vision la...

and had another lop before...black and white and very chubby and very adorable....now also gone ..
and another netherland dwarf....very timid and shy...gone also

if they are really well taken care of, can live up to 10 years...but usually like 6 - 7 start to have sickness

i have three!!!

Mocha - almost 3 yrs old

Lilly - a bit over 3 yrs old (adopted from SARS)

Yubi - a bit over 1 yrs old

this pic is an attempt for trying to bond all 3 together but not successful... lol (Mocha and Lilly are bonded, then comes Yubi)

Goldie, bunnies' life span is around 10 years, and they need quite a bit of time to maintain. Plus, most of them do not play with human.......so, you need to really think about it.

People said put them in the bath tube, or put them in your car when you drive, I tried that before, they are scared when you do that and they will all stick together, but after you put them back to the cage, they will hate each other again...

2 of my bunnies used to hate each other very much, but one time one of them jumped into the other's cage and after a night they became lifetime buddies......

here's my bunny! =D
we adopted him from spca when he was around 3 yrs ago
he was named snickers. but i didn't really like it at that time so i just called him bunny
and eventually it became barni =p
it's been 4 years now.. =D
he's very gwai and very healthy
i hope he'll stay this way forever <3

oh and thank you siu mai bb for teaching me how to attach pictures~ =)

choco: will they attack each other when they see each other or are they just not willing to play together? we once tried putting a raisin on top of one's head and lure the other to go eat it off his head...that way the bunny will think the one going for the food is trying to smell him.

why would putting them in a bathtub work? alfalfa and ajax loves jumping in and out of the bathtub and play...

barni gets nervous everytime when he's not on carpet. he'll try to run really fast towards the carpet area.. but then he's afraid of slipping so he looks like he's running really quickly but actually moving really slowly.

i think ah bi is just declaring to be a single bun, that's all. she had a stuffed bunny toy as partner when she was a baby, she loved the stuffed bunny so much and would groom it everyday. one day she suddenly starts to bite the stuffed animal a lot and we had to take it away, and she was totally fine with it, not even missing it at all. and the picture above where i tried to bond the 3 of them was a neutral space to all of them, and after bonding session ah bi would refuse to eat at all...... so we think she declares to be single. the other two were bonded fine when they met, took them less than a week to fully bond.

as for the bath tub part, a lot of people think that bath tub is too slippery for them so it works very well to bond bunnies cuz they'll be scared. not all bunnies are brave enough to jump out.

yeah... mocha and lilly are very close in age, and ah bi came much later and she's 2 yrs younger than the other two... so it didnt work out.

Dr Kutney & Dr Potter are very experienced in handling bunnies.
I usually let my bunnies see Dr Kutney but she only works there during Mondays...

I prefer Dr Potter and Mondays but she's off on Mondays.
So Dr Kutney is very good too?
Perhaps I should try her next time
Since Monday works better for me.

Dr. Upjohn at Eagle Ridge Animal and Bird Hospital in Coquitlam.
Dr. Upjohn is recommended by a lot of VRRA people but i think he's getting a bit old for the job now lol

dr upjohn is way too far for me. we went there once for my hamster and holy it took more than an hour. if it was an emergency and we needed to take our bunny there, he would've freaked out so badly for the long car ride.

do you guys bring your bunny there for annual check ups?

same here. Mocha only went there once for an ultrasound... only if it's serious stuff i'll take them there, otherwise for things like annual check up i take them to AWAC.

and i guess that answers ur ques, yep i take them for annual check up

how do you guys clip their nails? often i find it is a 2 people job...one to hold them still and one to clip. and most of the time i cannot clip the thumb, its too thick

I take my bunny to Dr Potter for annual check up.

I cut her nails by myself... it's tough especially she hates being held > <~

I try to do it as quick as possible but mine is a black bunny w/ black nails, so it takes a bit more time for me to find the quick.
I cut into the quick once by accident... there was so much blood it scared the hell outta me!! But my bunny stayed very still like nth happened O_o
Right now I use a tiny flashlight (those keychain ones), 由下面透過指甲照上來﹐that way i can see the quick and avoid cutting them.

Yah i agree w/ u it's really hard to clip the thumb!!

cuz it's so hard to stick the clipper in there...

my bf and i cut our bunny's nails =)
he flips him over (trances him) and have him on his lap, while i help hold him to make sure he doesn't jump. i get really nervous every time we do this though. i feel like i'm more nervous than the bunny =p

i don't think it's actually THAT hard. (but then again i'm not the one doing it)
what we do is when our bunny is sitting still on the ground, we put a towel over him (make sure the towel is big enough). the towel needs to cover the entire bunny. then hold the towel in a way so the bunny cannot see - when bunnies can't see they stay still (most of the time =p) then scoop up the bunny with both arms, with your left arm resting on the ground on the left side of the bunny and do the same for the right side with your left arm. and then flip him over. this shouldn't be too hard if your towel is big enough. so the bunny is sort of trapped inside the towel. we usually put him on my bf's lap, then i help cover the bunny's eyes with the towel (make sure he can breath though!) and my other hand'll usually be holding the bunny's hands or feet or the tummy. when someone is holding/touching the bunny firmly the bunny feels safer too so he's less likely to jump.

go on youtube too you should be able to find a bunch of videos on that =)

do you cage your rabbit at home?
my rabbit is toilet trained, he runs around at home, goes to pee/poo and eat/drink inside his cage. he is spoiled as a 'free rabbit' now, can't cage him anymore

My rabbit is also litter trained, but I keep her in an unused bathroom because I have a dog and I have to keep them separated. My dog is overly interested in the rabbit and I am not sure what she would do lol...

yes, just drop in, and sign up for a one year membership. they will give you a card, you can use it for all your rabbits within one year..
i usually watch the whole process, they are professional, will just take 1-2 mins to finish the job.
