Help - my window won't go back up (after many times jiggling the button it goes back reluctantly)
Richmon Honda wants $80 just to take a look. (Warranty just expired a couple of months ago)

Any suggestions before I let them 斬 me?

Thanks

For something that's as simple as this, don't need to go back to dealership, any garage can fix that.

Sounds like the motor is still good because it rolled back up.  If there's nothing is preventing the window movement (i.e. guides are all smooth and not broken), the switch or the relay is more likely to be defective...just my wild guess...

I thought only the dealer can fix power windows of their makes ?

I think I won't go to the dealer any more unless its really necessary now that my car is off warranty. They charged me for some scheduled maintenance no more than an oil change and some checking plus a couple of cans of fuel cleaner last time for $350

It could also be that the scissor arms are bent from someone trying to force it down.

I think any shop that take apart the door will be able to fix it, but I don't have any shop to recommend. :d

You can see them work in their shop at Richmond Honda, and it does not look like it is worth $350 for basic maintenance >_<

But really honestly, I rather not do it myself cause I am lazy.

on new cars there's not much maintenance to do other than regular oil changes, air filter, rotate tires...coolant flush once in a long while (if you have the long life stuff), spark plugs very rarely cuz they usually last 160k now, tranny fluid flush is more important and should be done as scheduled

next time you go to the dealer for service, just tell them you want an oil change and that's it, should be 50 bucks max

i think it will be easier if u provide your car's information, even tho things like power window would be pretty straight forward...

honestly, on newer cars (if u say your car is just out of warranty), i have seen more broken switch than broken regulator than broken motor...if the car had accident at that general area, or any sort of repair done (even just paint job), it could be wirings when ppl were loosening up sth for the repair...

i have seen connector that is 1/2 loose (not fully pushed in so it kinda falls back out), causing the power to work one way, but not the other; of course, this will be rare....

Its a Honda SIR - only 48000 km after 3 yrs- I would have gotten extended warranty if there were more electronic equip but thought no bec its only two windows.

Probably a broken or loose switch because one time it stopped going up and after some juggling it went up ok. Don't dare to ower down again.

try changing the run channel / weather strip, have replaced spoonek4's 00 SiR and also my other friend's 00 SiR...is your car garage kept or?

what happen is the run channel / weather strip caused a very very high friction so the window wouldn't go up but it will go down...

of course, it's better to have it checked before doing major work to it...i know the power lock is somewhat easy to break but dun think the power window motor is...

Thanks thats a good thought - my car parks outside so that could be the reason - where can I find the runing channle/weather strip and is that easy to replace?
