B仔 , every fri. they have FREE classes.... more like featuring their products gum.... i make digital scrapbooks using smilebox and photoshop

then I use artscow to print them off as a book to relatives in Taiwan and HK (free shipping)

scrapbooking can be expensive....and addictive!!

it's very easy to make. Even an art idiot like me can do it!

For B jai, don't waste your money to buy their starter kit.
Just drop by my house to use mine..... I went to their V-day class and bought their starter kit.
Ever since, I never touch it. =l

Nam, I was never had a class like that.. so I took advantage of those free classes... I got those cutter things when it was like 40% off and stuff.. i spent so much money on that... I should take a pic of what tools and papers I have.. I am sure you will wow me.. haha but mine's is just so LITTLE compare to those professional ones.

I really suggest to go in for one class... just one class and you basically can tell what are simple techniques that they use.. and u can just create your own design... ho easy gar jar...

Yes. I went to classes with my wife there. They have small class about 4-5 people per class. I found it quite useful.

It's always nice to have free class....but then...both locations are far for me

I haven't been to any class for card, attended one for colouring with copic marker.
Where did you go shopping for scrapbook/card making stuff usually?
Besides Michaels...I mainly shop in http://www.scrapbookwarehouse.com/, Clippers street (but too bad Richmond location is closing down), http://www.imimpressed.ca/im.cgi.
Recently I started to shop online. (sigh...玩rubber stamping, card making 都可以好敗家).
Maybe it's good for me when clippers street closed ...because I can really save a lot...
I almost go there every lunch time.

Buy paper, rubber stamp doesn't seem to cost a lot so I don't really feel that 肉赤 each time...but things add up...

Rainy your card is pretty ar! I started card making a year ago. Made a few ones but not all turn out satisfied. Anyway, I"m a newbie too. I usually learn by going over online tutorial, since I'm too cheap to attend card making class la.
Thanks for posting the store info coz it could be my other "地頭" for supplies...

Just curious how many of u guys actually attend classes or do you just learn on your own? I have been scrapbooking for a few years now and recently started making cards. I mainly just use stickers and ribbons when I make my pages/cards but I m looking for more tools/techniques to improve.

i just join those free classes recently. They are simple and easy. I used to learn on my own but didn't work out well b/c I don't know the tricks behind. Here is the one I just learned last week: it's easy and simple but you need the machine to press the patterns and stuff

Strawberry, I learned that card from Making Memories Store.. it's located in BBY on Hastings. Every fri is free and take.. so they teach you something simple every fri and you can bring home. eheh too bad that recently i have to work la.. not enough time to get there for those free lessons

They used to be only Fri 10-6, then they changed to 10-4 but I am not sure about now.

Claichan, I used the 3/4 " puncher they provided to but the 1/2 circle there and the #-D circle thing is a sticker =)

if we don't have stickers like that, we can simply use a small stamp to stamp on the card

And then use some marbles like these (99 cents a bag from Michaels' or $2 from Daiso):

stick on top of the stamped area:

Then it will become this:

Nastabilities scallop circle die cut , circle die cut

Bazzill card stock (brown and pink)
The flower paper I forgot the brand...
For the flower in the middle I colour the stamp with watercolour marker first, then spray water on the stamp, then stamp on the paper.

I think to start, paper trimmer is a must.
Then some colour card stock, or special pattern paper, some rubber stamps, ink pads.

Next stage may be embossing machine like cuttlebug. Welcome to the card making!

Just be aware of your "wallet"... it could really end up huge spending here and there...

Claichan, I can't promise that I can take classes with you since I don't even have a set schedule for myself. I'm pretty much working/school everyday... and for the Fridays that I get to go to MMWS, I am just lucky.... that I get a 1/2 day off jar ... ><

If the class is on weekend I can mostly join...but weekday I can't la...long commute from Richmond to MMWS...
