For those who are using the Tarayon modem, you can get a DOCSIS 2.0 Motorola Surfboard modem.

what's the different between the old one though? mine is the blue one, i'm not sure if that's the old one =P is this new one black?

The Blue Tarayon one is analogue, you get a much much slower speed. The black Motorola one is digital, you will get much faster speed. Call Shaw and they will mail you the Motorola one by CanadaPost.

the Tarayon modem is very very old... i got the Motorola one for at least 2 years already... but it's not black tho.. it's a navy blue... perhaps not the newest model.

I got Tarayon modem and it's very slow. Called shaw and they sent a person to switch the modem for me. Now I'm 10x faster.

they just mailed me the new one, I haven't mail the old one back yet. but the speed did really improved A LOT

Mine is the black surfboard 5100, the on/off switch doesn't even work. I think it is disabled through the firmware.

l jsut called shaw for technical support. a lady told me Motorola SB5101 SURFboard is the newset model which can support sxtreme high speed internet

haha.. doesn't mean is faster. Untill DOCSIS 3.0 is out for Shaw, our Surfboard should be fine.

If the SB5000 series can go up to 25Mpbs, it will be a long time before we will upgrade.
