想請教有冇人知道UBC NUTRITION 同 SFU HEALTH SCIENCE 大概有咩分別？難唔難讀？同埋GRAD後有D咩好路。。。定係拿了BACHELOR都係廢廢地，要進修先容易D搵啖食？

我都係幫人問。。。因為我都唔識人讀過呢D。
其實o個個人都唔係鍾意讀呢D，只係佢F-ed咗佢想讀嘅野，所以諗住讀呢D諗住"practical & reliable" D喎。。。
冇眼睇～～

I know lot of Asian girls taking the Nutriton & Food Science at UBC,
it is relatively easier to study, and easy to find a job.
They could be Public Health Inspectors with starting salary or $50K,
the least they can do would be quality control for Food manufacturers.
Or HomeEc teacher, a job for life.

Now it is a Degree.
The base requirement is a CPHIC diploma, but most of the public health inspectors
I know have 2 Degrees.

If I remember it correctly...few yrs ago when I was still at UBC... Food & Nutrition is belong to Agriculture Science..very easy to get in..but hard to study wor..

IMHO, a degree in nutrition is not that practical (at least not in Vancouver, i am not sure if that's the case in other places). Most of my friends with a nutrition degree cannot find a relevant job here (as in vancouver). If you want to be practical, study Dietetics or Food Science instead. However, I don't think one makes much as a QC/QA (~$40k on avg). As well, most major food plants are located on the East.

There is an average requirement to get admitted into a Food Science Major (~70%, not high), whereas there is none for Nutrition Major. In order to get certified as a public health inspector, you WILL need to go to BCIT.

The CPHI Diploma program at BCIT used to be 6 months long. But since
the job pays well, most of the applicants are over-qualified.
The Centre For Disease Control and CFIA hire lots of Food Science graduates.
Difficult to study or not? I don't know, my son got 94% average when he
go to UBC for Political Science

For inpector job now, usually you need to relocate, very very rare you can find a job in town.

聽你地咁講，NUTRITION真係好似廢廢地。
有冇人知道關於SFU嘅HEALTH SCI呢？其實係咪都係同UBC個D差唔多，不過DEGREE嘅名唔同咋？？？

如果那學生所報／ACCEPTED嘅（UBC NUTRITION ＆ SFU HEALTH SCI）唔係真係自己喜歡，又唔想TAKE A YEAR OFF，有唔係好知兩者有咩好出路。。。。你地有咩好提意呢？

你朋友咩原因要入Nutrition 先? 聽落好似你朋友唔多鐘意讀Nutrition/Food Science..甘點解要入?? 係咪因為分唔夠入Arts / Science? 唔好take a year off 呀~~ 入去first yr 讀定D 1st yr requirement 或者 electives 都好呀~~

如果要選入UBC定SFU... 我建議去UBC.. 因為多choice 揀﹗ 真係乜都有得讀~~ LOL 轉faculty 都好易~~ 內transfer 比起外transfer易好多~~ *當然除左入commerce / econ 啦*
應該先入左UBC/SFU first yr sin.. then 先慢慢choose Major~

P.S. SFU 又要拉curve依樣個樣幾麻煩下~~ 我唔係好清楚...不過講到UBC啦wor~~
我好PRO 架~~ 例如﹕轉faculty呀~ Academic Probation呀 Appeals 等等~

佢個原因係：謀生喎。。。

本來想入"困記"讀FASHION DESIGN，點知過程中出錯，F-UP 咗。唯有去BACKUP 嘅SFU／UBC啦～ SFU佢差D 都F-UP 埋，自己唔夠分，學人報MARKETING（佢話因為SFU出名MARKETING喎。你話吹唔吹脹？）。好彩，臨噠Q傳咗科，SFU收佢HEALTH SCIENCE。

報UBC唔夠分，學人報SCIENCE定係乜鬼，我都唔記得喇。。。緊係比人REJECT啦。
本來疊埋心水去SFU架喇，點知UBC又SEND信話收佢NUTRITION喎～搞到佢而家唔知去邊度好。

就算讀唔到FASHION DESIGN，我都唔知點解佢會揀埋D咁出奇嘅野嚟做BACKUP，又唔係鍾意喎。就算唔係自己鍾意，都求其BACKUP報ARTS咪好囉（佢夠分入架）。。。唉～

我問佢係咪因為朋友影響所以先揀埋D咁嘅野（佢有FRIEND係真係想讀UBC NUTRITION），佢又話唔係跟風。。。只係想讀D有用嘅野，容易D搵工作喎。

我都有建議佢入UBC架。因為SFU易入易炒。UBC比較上難DD入，不過難炒好多。
不過D人，年輕氣盛。。。講多都無謂。
我都有叫佢讀D FIRST YEAR PREREQ架，之後再揀FACULTY都未遲丫嘛～

而家佢咪心大心細，搞到兩頭不到岸囉。最搞野係，佢真係諗住疊埋心水讀NUTRITION／HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM。。。佢REGISTER都搞到LEH咁HEA，FLUKE先有得九月讀書。佢條路，睇嚟唔撞到應佢都唔知驚。

其實我覺得讀個科同第日做咩工唔一定100%有關係嘅。除非你真係讀啲專門技能啦。讀心理都唔係個個做心理醫生啦。羅咗個degree先算囉。

oh i see~都係入UBC安全~話晒UBC出名難入D啦~~ 加上都話UBC乜都有得讀囉~ Fashion Design UBC好似都有得讀耶~~ (我讀左Fine Art first yr 既2個course.. haahaa 有得畫裸女) XD *另外個frd係唔同時間讀...點知要畫裸男~ wakakakaa)

首先入UBC Nutrition = Faculty of Agriculture Science, 睇下1st yr D requirement 係乜~ 讀D易既課~~ average 有 70% 就轉到番Arts架啦~ 不過我記得 Agriculture Science要求 average above 60% 唔係就會Academic Probation... under 55% 就kick out.. 唔好以為易讀呀~~ UBC 1st yr 既course都好鬼難﹗Math + Science 難到顛﹗ 所以都有好多人係first yr 被kick out.. 不過... 我依D 豬兜叻又唔上堂~日日落機鋪都grad到既~~當然有其它辦法啦~~ (起碼我被Academic probation 兩次都無被人kick out!!) WAKAKAKAAA

我自己冇讀UBC，我唔知架。我自己同愛人都覺得上山讀SFU好難～～人都癲～～～ LOL

果陣我去UBC都唔少，最叻去機鋪，SUB，同MAC DON，BOOKSTORE～哈哈哈哈。。。個陣係陪以前條PK仔～ LOL

我唔係好記得lu~~不過之前入個D Fine Arts Building了交功課..唔鬼記得邊幢見過D有衫擺晒出黎~ 我諗住係Fashion Design hahaaa~~

唉~ UBC機鋪陪伴我多年~ 我一畢業無耐佢就執左~ 唉唉 (睇住機鋪由大變細..由人煙鼎盛變成小貓三四隻)~~ 依家執埋...想去影番張相留念都唔得lu~~

So, for nutritional science major, you don't need a 70% for internal transfer? thought I read somewhere in the Land and Food System websites that it has to be 72% or something =)

what about you? did you go to BCIT after UBC? or you found a job after UBC?

actually it's very common for ppl to get work totally unrelated to their degrees.
my sis was in Agriculture Science doing Aquarculture. (not management

try translate that in Cantonese)
She is in the quality control team at a .com company now. And I think her husband has a similar degree and he is in high tech as well. (may be sales/admin related)

i dun think there is a avg requirement for nutritional sci major according to the ubc calender... but not sure if they change it recently?
i graduated with a food science major & did a few food sci related jobs afterwards... now i am back to study but not in bcit

titi2, there is still an avg requirment I believe. If there is no such thing, anyone can transfer to nutritional sci major lu =P But seems like it's not that hard to meet the average. =)

what kind of food science related jobs you've had?
