岩岩打完Chapter 3"無情有愛"之後﹐好想知究竟大家洗唔洗心理輔道。同埋諗下係咪要放足本版入無人駕駛區。

Hello大家好﹐正式返左Vancouver幾個禮拜先有D胸同各位見面。開多個揮手區係想俾班蛋散多個抒發情緒同吹水嘅地方啦。話說近日其實大C...姑(諗唔起自己叫咩朵)身邊好多人問有無工勞。好多人﹐畢業生又有﹐幾十歲又有﹐都揾緊嘢做。當大家都幾乎唔題開嘯嘅時候﹐其實無論香港﹐Vancouver同我其他海外朋友都好懊惱工作問題。好多人見我咁多嘢做﹐又好似好多朋友﹐所以都揾我搭路。但係我真係想講﹐我識嘅朋友好把鬼﹐頂多係醫生律司會計﹐唔係話佢哋無用﹐當然好有用啦﹐但係佢哋唔會請人囉。我唔係識好多生意人﹐中小企果D。老老實實﹐我識嘅朋友好多都係大公司manager﹐佢哋都無可能指指個鼻就請個親朋戚友入公司。所以好多時都係愛莫能助﹐頂多係留意有無相關行業嘅job posting囉。

我都希望個市好D啦﹐遊手好閒無工做的確係好慘。慘到而家有時忙到甩碌都唔敢喺人面前呻﹐因為實有人講呢句﹐"你有得做仲講風涼話﹗" 我幫大家打打氣啦﹐唔好太燥火。

大C姐, 估唔到你同我既人脈都差唔多.
真係唔係講笑, 有唔少朋友都問過我有冇好工介紹. 通常係d 朋友既細佬妹, 剛畢業, 又唔係精英果隻.
講真, d 人一問到, 我都係R 哂頭, 因為我真係唔知有乜野工作適合佢地.
太打雜, 又唔想介紹比佢地; 太專門, 又唔覺得佢地meet 到requirement. 所以, 差唔多次次都不了了之.

Here are my advices to all job searchers.  Just pay more attention to your resume.... I am not the lucky one, nor the best one out there.... needed couple years to find a job in big company.... but at least I think I finally can see the end of the tunnel.

Although I am not cream of the top, I found that if you pay more attention to your resume and put a lot of effort into it, it sure helps you to get interviews..... honestly since I know I am not the best out there, I put a lot of effort into my resume (4-5 hrs to customize each of my resume for each posting and to review to see if there are any things I forget to change or edit or take out, I think for some really good jobs, I even spent 10 hrs in total to make one resume, I also do a lot of research for each job opportunity too.  After you have about 50 different versions of resumes, this process will become faster and faster)  My interview rate is only around 8-10%, but after talking to my other friends, I was told I have pretty good hit rate given my lack of work experience and a huge gap between graduation and first job.

My conclusion is, hard work DOES pay off... especially since you will understand more and more how to job search, and understand why you got rejected...... Don't be afraid to ask for help too or talk to people about it.  Sometimes what you lack is just some minor techniques that you never develop given the Asian culture we grew up with.

Finally, don't be afraid of doing jobs outside of your field or take jobs that looks pathetic to others.... you will be surprised what kind of jobs I took in between jobs.  ANY WORK EXPERIENCE COUNTS!!!  Nothing worse than an huge gap in between jobs on your resume.  Be flexible, everyone knows there are only this many jobs in Vancouver since Vancouver does not have a strong industry except Tourism or Lumber or Retail, etc.  If you really looking for career, you should not limit yourself to Vancouver this small village for retirement.

Finally, I am not insulting you or your "friends", 大C姐, but this statement here is untrue "老老實實﹐我識嘅朋友好多都係大公司manager﹐佢哋都無可能指指個鼻就請個親朋戚友入公司。".  Referral is bigger than anything in job search, especially in Canada, both big and small companies.....  if your friends refused to help out, that only means either your friends do not have faith in your own ability or they just don't feel close enough to help you out.  Or your friend just overstated his/her "manager" position/responsibilities in their company.

Let me tell you something, I actually got my 2nd job thru LYK by referral, and that is one of the most important stepping stone to my short career so far.  Sometimes you just never know what kind of chances has come to you until you try it.  I also got this current full time job by being honest while trying my best, I actually did not even fit in their first requirement in the posting.  Good employers always can spot potential candidates by reading the resume.  Bad employers just use software to scan out all candidates whom do not meet their requirement.

你唔明我個意思。

若然你間公司有個job posting要請個software engineer﹐你又咁岩識一個朋友係讀engin又有相關經驗﹐你就可以叫你朋友apply唧(呢D係referral)。

我之前講個意思係﹐我唔識一D朋友係可以"指指個鼻"就關照個世姪求其擔當一官半職。除非你係私人公司或者係CEO果個階層﹐一般管理級都好難亂請人。

o係你"忙到甩碌"既時候，有無諗過係你老細諗縮數，將幾個人既工作比你一個人做，人工就加少少甚至唔加，搵9你笨7呢？

我之前講個意思係﹐我唔識一D朋友係可以"指指個鼻"就關照個世姪求其擔當一官半職。除非你係私人公司或者係CEO果個階層﹐一般管理級都好難亂請人。

在下亦曾經僥倖係咁情況下，係間有4~500員工既公司做過差唔多一人之下既位。個中苦況。。。
做得好，有人會話："你有老細睇住梗係路路暢通"。做得唔好，又會有人話："唔係有老細睇住，一早就炒左啦。跟本就無料做呢個位"。而你boss亦都會顧忌你可能係大老細條針，對你處處提防之餘，仲會搵機會煮你一鑊金既。。。

你講晒"窗口"都無用﹐因為請唔請人向來都係我話事。老老實實﹐請唔請﹐請邊個﹐都係我控制唧。不過而家請個人真係好難﹐好多人又無經驗又無work ethics﹐忙起上嚟都無時間train。同埋好多嘢都要自己親力親為唔可以假手於人。所以我都係辛苦命﹐勤力D賺錢啦。

至於話"關照"朋友入公司係同事三分親同畢打自己人嘅劇情唧。當然我唔排除好多香港中小型office會有人玩呢D咁幼稚嘅office politics。一般大公司你refer個朋友都未必同一個department﹐同一個department都要經過3個manager, 2個execs﹐一個partner先請到你朋友。大公司嘅internal control都唔會俾你亂放人入payroll啦。

順便promo一下<夜生活女王2009士啤騷>下個禮拜大結局。

話時話(無人話過)﹐覺唔覺每年都好多澳洲人﹐英國人會申請work/travel visa嚟Vancouver? 每年most livable city都入圍﹐當然好多人都以為Vancouver真係好優質生活派。但係個個嚟到都揾唔到工﹐揾到都係做D好低下層嘅工作﹐連一般生活都困難﹐唔好話去玩。變相嚟到慘過坐監﹐你哋識唔識得呢D朋友?

I talked to two Japanese chicks in the swimming pool couple months back. they said they on working visa. The wage is about the same as Japan, 13-15/hour. They come out to see the world, a learning experience for those who don't have the privilege of university drinking and education. What i heard from them is the same as us, high living standards but very expensive which is same as tokyo or wherever they from. guess they here to snatch up a rich husband or two.

i am happy to talk to them though, sometimes i start conversations with locals they seem to have their nose up and ignore you. vancouver is a snobby city.

女仔又後生當然著數啦﹐好多唔識英文嘅日本妹都可以做starbucks﹐waitress。但係男仔就通常唔會請囉。

但係Customer service好少有十幾蚊一個鐘啵。

nail technicians from what i heard, i was a little skeptical though. these korean/japs that come here, some on travel visa, they make there wage more than 15/hr. it was one of those richmond apartments, but yah, its alot easier for young girls to make money for sure.

啊~ 呢D手作仔反而易sell過大學學位。你要做文員﹐又要train你﹐又要幫你搞access card/ authorization﹐搞得嚟你都走啦。
