If you drive a nice car, will you be afraid of vandalism?

I have a few friends who always complain about people being jealous of their cars and say that many black-hearted people will scratch their cars on purpose or break inside to steal stuff.

If you drive a nice car, will you be afraid of vandalism?  What can you do about it?

Yes.  A lot people have nothing better to do these days.  And my car isn't something you call nice ... still I end up with a $2200 bill and dozen of fresh footprints ...

they would vandalize/break-in even if it is a decent car ga la... not much difference.
you can't avoid it (very much at least), and its not like it'll stop u from getting a nice car!

before you get a nice car, or pricy car, or mod your car... make sure you have enough $ set aside to fix it incase anything happens...

I don't drive a nice car, but I do mod my car.

The most scary thing is not people intentionally causing damage to your car.  It is the C 9 in Richmond!!

Sazabi, GOOD ONE.

Yeah man, the most scary one are the C9 or Senior....

Someone hit and run @ T & T in Burnaby too.. . I just want to give them finger...
They practically don't know how to drive and park, and not willing to let other people to get through!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why the heck they still drive in Vancouver??

Yes, utopia...

when I go to T&T in Burnaby, I don't park outside T&T lor.  I park my car on the 3rd floor of the same parkade.  Those C 9 or senior are lazy and they never park up there.  It is much safer there.  Non-asian up there are generally better drivers.  At least, they will open their doors with caution

Oh... another 2 black spots:
crystal mall - go to the bottom, like 4th underground
aberdeen - 3rd floor again

then i guess i'm classified into the C9 catagory too

Do not label C9 as bad drivers.  There are men who cannot drive too.

Just park a bit far away and with a lot of space.  I usually park at the above ground parking when I am in T&T Metrotown.

Walk abit makes good exercise and safer for your car.

Speaking of the  vandalism,

First do not put anything in the car seat even it is just a jacket.  People do break in because of the jacket.

Do  not do park rage or road rage.  I heard from other borad; because the C9 get his parking spot so he scratch her car...

Yes... you are right, I will not label drug dealer as bad people too, b/c there are "non drug dealer" who are bad too

not sure if ppl consider my car is a nice car... but I don't really afraid of vandalism, I just afraid of DENT... ppl should respect others property.

doh, i guess i'll have to spell it out for you.

"Do not label C9 as bad drivers.  There are men who cannot drive too."-some guy's pt
"Yes... you are right, I will not label drug dealer as bad people too, b/c there are "non drug dealer" who are bad too"-your pt

While both pts are valid, it does not rebut each other yet your tone is sarcasm. some guy's pt was that bad driving is not limited to woman-kind only, and your pt went off on a tangent due to misunderstanding. Futhermore, by the logic of your statement you meant to say that all bad drivers should be labeled C9, hence my reply.

Good morning.

haha, u think too much la.
My statement simply says that not only drug dealers are bad people.  I thought I was trying to agree that guy's point.  Where u get the "you meant to say that all bad drivers should be labeled C9"? Thank you for spelling something out for me that I did not even intend to.

I do think too much. But I dunno, if your statement is really that simple, I don't see who or what you are reply for.

Sazabi,

er....... u know what? I parked @ upper level already.....and I still got hit................duh....... ai... and my sister-in-law keep thinking I hit the car myself...screw her   Now the front and the back are both hit........

So I learned my lesson and try to squeeze in the car as deep as possible ..................

notgoddy,

You are darn right. I cannot stand those older men too!!!!
They are way worse than c9!!!!!!!!

At least C9 drive with caution, those senior men......... arrr... bascially they suck and they actually believe they are good. They hawk at you but.....they are the one who are stupid..... just drive me crazy when I see those male drivers on the road!!!!!!

C9 or auntie might drive slow..........but those middle age men are driving me nut......There were one day I was going to T&T in burnaby.........and the uncle hawk me for nothing.. yeah I'm blocking him but THAT'S BECAUSE there is a line up going into the underground parking...............DUH!!!!!!!! not like I purposely block him at all............. or should I back up my car, so he can get out the mall, and I block the whole traffic on Renfrew???? so people can't get in??

notgoddy, simply to agree on that point.

However, even if what you said is what I "meant".  I still find something I don't understand in your logic.  If I really meant that, then I am insisting "all C9 should be labelled as bad drivers", NOT "all bad drivers should be labbeled as C9".  No??? May be i should take your advice to get a cup of coffee

Sazabi,

Not sure are you a newbie on LYK....

But it seems to be a tradition on LYK that you have to be extremely caution on your wording.... because... it seems like a habit for LYK to pick on a fight or pick on words....... , may be they are trying to be neutral on everything or logical on everything or serious on everything.

That's why I only flirt with my twin on LYK now

utopia, I am no newbie la...
Your twin actually pick up who I am right away b/c I have the same screen name on MSN. Your C9 twin is smart!
yeah... but I try to becareful not to be too extreme now when getting into arguement with people esp. after reading the admin interview.

It really depends ..

I hv seen some LOSERS .. parked their cars side way ..  took 2 spots .. and just a Corvette or Benz ....   If it is a 599 ..  C-GT ..  then I can understand ..

Most people show respect, when u drive a nice Ferrari ..  Porsche ..  etc ..  unless you drive like an idiot!!

I think problem in Vancouver/Richmond is ..  lots of nice cars, are driven by BAD/Dumb drivers .. that is the problem ..   those C9 and kids ..  driving BENZ/BMW ..   but with bad skill (or NO skill) that is a problem ...

When I was younger ..  at teenage ..  I got lots of problem with my car too, police stopped me with NO reason, people stole the logos from my car, nail my tires, broke my windows, throw stones to my car .. etc etc ...   but those were the day ...  thx God !

we've never had ppl intentionally vandalize our cars out of jealousy i guess (touch wood)
but we've had the logos and the model#/name stolen. and we've had ppl trying to break into our car by trying to take out the lock from the door.
and we've had hit-and-runs as well.
so yes im paranoid about sthg bad happening to my car. like what ani said, it doesnt matter what car it is, but as long as it's my car, i get really frustrated and upset every time sthg bad happens to it.

I usually worry a little the first few weeks during my new car ownership, but the concern start to fade quickly after that..!  I have to admitted I am more careful with my STi than my Jeep which don't mind parking right by the other dirty rusty trucks.

Just that for a daily drive, it's too much for me to worry about where I can park or go.

As for vandalism, I think luck plays a big part of it.  Otherwise, it's common sense like no visible valuable inside the car, or those little toys that people place by the windshield, etc...  Currently, I have the trunk release disable, so an average theif can't get to my trunk as quickly..!

If you're that worried about the car, then you've let your car run your life. Not the other way around. By all means look after it, but if it gets to the point where it runs your life, then maybe it's time for the old car to drive to places where you think it might get damaged so it doesn't "hurt" as much.

If your car make ppl turn head, then I guess it's good enough to call it "nice car".

The question is kind of silly anyways, no body wants their stuff vandalized rather it is nice or not.

Agree.. but I think people feel more emotionally attached to a car. But I've had very expensive cars crushed (because of govt laws) and you really have to take the emotions out of these things. Vandalism is unfortunately a part of life but if some selfish idiot decides to trashes/steals your property be it a car or your $10, 2nd hand mobile phone, then you deal with it as it comes.

yup... some people just leave their windows/lock open and even leave some changes in the car
so people will be satified after taking the change + not destroying the car

LOL! I agree! Besides, I don't drive a nice car and neither my wifey's but then our 14 yr old Camry got broken into in our neighbourhood.

So, what does that entail? Let's just say that you deserve all those attentions (even attentions from crooks and vandals) if you drive a fancy car.Afteall: isn't that (attention) what you want at the first place?

That's exactly what my aunt did before. They don't have a enclosed garage and her old car got broke in a few times. So eventually she just leave all door/window open.

Ya it costs more to replace window, as deductible is up now.

That's why I went with Canadian Direct with only $200 deductible. Used that twice already.
