Camping stoves still allowed
Jill Drews VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) | Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 9:20 pm VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - You'll have to gather around the lantern if you're going camping this weekend. Starting Friday, campfires are banned in provincial parks and crown land in the Coastal and Kamloops fire regions.
That covers the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley and the Sunshine Coast. You'll still be able to make a meal though as camping stoves are allowed.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Vancouver Park Board has raised the fire hazard rating in city parks to extreme. Effective today, smoking in parks or on trails is banned, along with charcoal or wood-burning barbecues.
Park users are also asked to stay on trails. The Park Board says signage is in place at Stanley Park, Everett Crowley Park, and Jericho Beach Park--areas which are especially vulnerable.
