Personally, as a Chinese, I welcome criticism from others rather than be protective against any damage to national pride.  

Look at 葉問2's dialogue:
"你覺得我好好打咩...但二十年後,會點...到時你好打過我...人會老..."

A martial arts master understand this, but seems that there are still lots of people refusing to listen to any comments that you can't be number one forever.

人會老, 時代會變
以為堵住人家的嘴巴, 蓋住自己的眼睛就可以繼續沉醉於Number One的夢?
越是這樣越讓人覺得, "老了"
