Look back at your own words.  Have you done a survey to show men don't understand?  Your male friends don't think it's a big problem doesn't mean they don't understand why you think it is.  And secondly, your male friends don't represent the majority of men, let alone ALL men.

How am I being self-centered?  Because I have an opinion?  That I'm implying that there are many men out there that do understand?  What?

I think it is pretty common that women claim men don't understand them.  And, I would like to point out that there is a difference between knowing and understanding.  e.g. I know girls love shopping, but I don't understand why.  I know girls care about hair, but I don't understand why to a degree they need to cry like a baby.

So, based on your opinion, all survey out there must be crap as they can never survey all the samples available, or that you can always question about the sample selected.  Well... that's ok, people have choice to believe what they believe.  However, I don't think the "All men" quoted from Alcohol is inappropriate, as All men in her circle don't understand.  So what do you expect?  Expect her to believe that there are still LOTS or MAJORITY of men out there who would understand like some other girls who come from la la land? LOL

I don't know if you are self-centered, but picking minor details or "holes" in some statement to debate like she is trying to publish a thesis to conclude "All men don't understand women" is just simply lame.

You're putting words in my mouth.  I'm not suggesting surveys are useless.  It depends on the sample size.  If you are to say my friends are this way and therefore people are this way, then I would  ...

When your friends or the people you know are this way.  It is hard to make yourself to believe the majority of the people are not this way.
