Whether we who live in western countries like it or not, China has consistently expressed its position to the world – it will manage China it its own way (in its way of saying is - 中國有自己的國情和文化傳統). And it has consistently expressed that it does not believe the western political and democratic system will fit the current situation of China.
I looked up the news. It is an expected political talk. However, it is actually logical even though we might not like it. Here are a few examples (which are my guesses of how the Chinese government interpret). I don’t have time to list out all the points.
1) “中國網際網路是開放的,中國也是網際網路發展最活躍的國家” – The government does not limit its development (the underline message is – “but it consent the web contents). The development of Internet in China is the most active in the world (it is the fact and no further explanation required).
2) “中國憲法保護公民的言論自由,推動網際網路的發展是我們的一貫政策” – The freedom of speech in China has its own interpretation. The Chinese government does consistently encourage and direct the development of Internet in China.
3) China also rejects US apposes its model of “the freedom of Internet” to China. One of the reasons (I guess) is that China currently does not have the capability to monitor its Internet activities as the way the US does (don’t naively believe US does not monitor the web).
Again we should have the ability to read the underline messages of the political talks. |
