[日本料理] Kiriri Japanese Cuisine & Sushi Bar

本帖最後由 布小熊 於 2010-11-28 15:03 編輯

We went to this newly discovered Japanese restaurant for lunch today.
We ordered some sushi and lunch set there. The food was pretty good.
The sushi was alright for the price ($1 tamago, $1.5 saba and $2 toro). So you cannot compare those from Sushi Hachi. But I think they have fancier fish on their special menu. (prob a dinner choice next time)

I had the Grilled Saba lunch set and my bf had the deep fried pork tenderloin lunch set. Both were pretty good. Most of the customers, chef and servers are Japan. And the Caucasian female waitress served us was cute. She speaks Japanese to other staffs in the restaurant.

Guess I will just show the pictures and let you judge. I really like the effort they put into the side dishes that came with the set!

The toro sushi and the fried pork tenderloin rice set look not bad too, will give it a try.  Thanks  ...

The toro was alright but I saw better fish on their fresh sheet. So those may be better. I saw some Japanese ladies having their $20 lunch set and the food looked good with very pretty containers and plates.

btw our lunch came to $26 before tips.

btw this is the store front and it didn't look like much but it's nicer inside.

Inside Cambie Mall? Expensive

But good. If you compare the price with tojo, blue water, octopus garden, it's not as expensive.

If the food quality is the same, then it's worth

Well compare to the others mentioned, Hachi does mostly traditional sushi.
I found the price reasonable. It really depends on what you ordered.
I had dinner there which was less than $40 per person and also $100 per head. I like sushi at Hachi. To me they are the right size, fav and texture. So most of the time I don't even order sashimi.

Anyway, back to Kiriri. The few pieces that we tried were not as good as those from Sushi Hachi. The tamago (always the test for sushi at a restaurant for us) was good thought so we are willing to try more expensive or fresh list sushi next time.
May be they choose to use lower quality saba and toro for the regular diners. And may pick better quality ones for sushi that they charge more.

講起TAMAGO。。。
嗰晚我老公叫TAMAGO(佢鍾意),舊野超薄,似煎蛋皮ON RICE~ 你叫嗰陣係咪咁呀? ...

We always order Tamago at new Japanese restaurant to test out the place.
It's thinner than normal tamago but it's not thin like 煎蛋皮. D liked the flavor of the egg and thought that piece was done nicer than the other fish sushi we ordered.
I tried a small piece and it wasn't overly sweet or overly dense. And it's for sure house made but I agree that it's on the thin and loose side. (Those pre-made ones are just AWEFUL. I bought it once from Angel seafood from the frozen section and found it just plain sweet and had texture of rubber)Well I have to give it a 2nd try to say if I like their sushi or not.

We went again for dinner with 2 friends. Confirmed that ... well we didn't really like their regular sushi but those specials on the board were pretty good.
We had the squid sashimi cut into thin noodle like strips. This is really fresh and sweet! unique presentation as well.
The cook food from kitchen were all very well executed.

sorry just updated my previous post. Cos I remembered that it was a HK style Japanese place before. I was just searching for the old name.
From the review, it was still "Zuushi" in March 2010
