Usually my goal for DOV is to try out new restaurants. This year's DOV list...doesn't have much to offer. I have booked a few of them for different reasons. I only have 3 on my list so far. And I am trying to go to casual restaurants for DOV so that the "DOV crowd" won't change the atmosphere of the restaurant.

tourism vancouver fixed their restaurant list.
Cincin is on with $35 menu but detail is TBA.
Chambar is acutally offering a $25 menu instead of $35 (posted on Jan 2).

We had a lot of DOV restaurant reviews at the old lyk forum.. too bad... they are gone now.

Good point! I can't spot any new restaurant on this year's DOV list... (may be Lift and Metro are the only 2?) Can some1 point out new ones that we missed?

New restaurant I tried to go are like Plan B and Flite, which I think none are on the list. Don't see any new restaurants that I recognize in the $35 category.

Lift is not very new, I went there Xm ...

haha didn't know Lift had opened for a while... well I don't go to "view" restaurants anyways. May be I will try to search about Plan B (interesting name) and Flite.

I just read this on the DOV facebook group:
The newly opened Plan B Lounge & Eatery in Yaletown was not permitted to be part of Dine Out this year because they opened too late in the year but are offering their own tasting menu at a $30 price per person.
This anxiously awaited new arrival to the Vancouver dining scene features some of the best tasting share plates in town from the creative culinary wizardry of Chef Ryan Zuvich.

Interesting news from news1130... but it's a good reminder for ppl who made extra/unwanted reservation to either give it away to friends/lyks or call to cancel it.

Mind your manners during Dine Out
By: Claudia Kwan News1130

It’s time to expand your dining horizons with Dine Out Vancouver, which officially starts Wednesday. Judith Lane writes about food for the Georgia Strait, among other publications, and says reservations are already completely booked for some restaurants, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be full. “The biggest challenge is people who reserve at 10 different restaurants for them and their 5 friends, and don’t cancel the ones they don’t go to. That’s hideous, it’s mean, it costs the restaurants a lot of money, there are waiting lists, other people want to be there, so please cancel.” There is a silver lining to the jerkitude.  Even if a restaurant’s fully booked, go there and be prepared to wait. You might be able to luck into a table if someone else no-shows.

I am a bit upset about Chambar. I just found out that their posted DOV menu has changed... Now I cannot find an appetizer, nor main, nor dessert that I want. They took all the dishes that I planned to order away. I had the mussels last year so I want to try something different this time
I may skip appie and dessert and just order a main course when my bf try their DOV menu.

I went to Gastropod yesterday and love the meal. Other than what is on the published DOV menu, they have extra menu items to choose from with $5 for appies (duck 2 ways and pan-seared scallops) $8 for mains (duck and venison).

I picked the duck appie and love it. (crispy outside with tender meat) All 4 of us ordered the pork shoulder as main and think it's  a well executed dish. I want go back to Gastropod for dinner some other time.

But well... I am really afraid of reviewing and recommending... cos some friend of mine went on a regular day and she said she didn't feel full after dinner there. But I was so full last night that I gave part of my main to my bf.

It seems the dishes are so small portion, is it enough for boys?  Oh!  Is the deco and the atmosphere very attractive?

Sanifar offers this 3 small dishes set even on their regular menu. You can always order extra to share if one set isn't enough for your appetite.
They have nice deco (super high ceiling) and even have beds/laydown area with curtains upstaris. But it's tiring to sit on a bed for a full meal. I think there is a minimium charge for the upstair section on busy weekends. It's a fun place to have a party. Taste-wise, food is alright.

I am confused... by my impulsive reservation made online...

Out of the 3 restaurants what would you choose? (thinking of going to 2 of them)
1) Sequoia grill at the Teahouse (never been)
2) Feenies (with new chef - previously sous chef at Cioppino's)
3) Chambar
