I just cancelled my Monday Jan 28 8:30 pm reservation for 2 at Feenie's. Anyone interested can try your luck at opentable or call them.

Dinner at Sequoia Grill on Sat was good. ^_^

I had their $25 menu and my bf took a $35 menu (almost everything from their regular menu). We are both happy with the service, our food and the env. ^_^

hi-lites:
- mussels + tasty sauce to be soaked by bread ~
- NY steak was very tender, juicy and full of sweet beef flavor.
- shortribs was fork tender. intense beef flavor as well (more savory)
  mushroom included was yummy!
- side veggies with the mains were nicely done, baby broccoli (Broccolini), green and white asparagus were crispy and seasoned right.
- chocolate truffle cake was silky smooth

- we got a table by the window and tables were pretty spread out. comfee

side note: we saw a poor couple (sitting at a table for 8-10 ppl) waited 40+ min for their late friends to arrive. They looked very upset... guess it would be hard for them to enjoy dinner like that...

hi ken and 布小熊
which dishes would you guys recommend to eat for the 3 courses at gastropod?

It depends on what you like.... I personally like duck dishes so I picked the duck 2 ways. I tried the scallops and they are really good too. If you like raw oysters and don't mind a smaller portion for your DOV meal, then try it. I had it last year and really like the jelly and "snow" on top.

For main, all of us ordered the pork... so we don't know how other dishes taste like... You have to like fatty pork to enjoy that dish tho. (and it definately don't taste anything like chinese style pork) btw the sauce is made with egg yolk so it's not a light dish

dessert... I had the cheese plate. (cos I had the chocolate fondant last year and I love all kinds of cheese)
I think Ken and his friends tried out more different dishes. So let's see what is his recommandation.

Well, Chinese style pork dishes are delicious and there are so many styles of them.

Not that I don't like chinese style roasted or braised fatty pork. But I usually don't like asian elements in western dishes unless I know that I am going to a fusion restaurant. I don't want my order of duck from a french or west coast restaurant to taste like BBQ duck from China town.

Did you have the venison carpaccio as appie at Chambar? I agree that this is an outstanding appie! I love it.

But for the main, I think I perfer the pork shoulder than the mussels or the ruby trout. For me... the mussels dish is relatively easy to make (fresh mussels & trial and error). But there is NO WAY I even attemp to try "sous-vide" a pork shoulder or making the sabayon sauce.

Anyway, I enjoy my DOV at Chambar too. It's a great value for the $25 menu.
