It's not practical to book a banquet place in advance in order to fit into your potentially getting money gift budget. Worse case is the money you're going to get is only able to cover 1/2 or 1/3 of the total banquet fee, set up your max amount to book a place within your affordable budget. After all, it's just "a wedding day". You'll need more money for the married life afterwards.

I think the so-called "market price" should also based on the current economic situation. Just like, when many people are jobless now, being laid off..., even new couples should/would re-plan their budgets, it's fair and reasonable for guests to reconsider and readjust their money gift accordingly la. No need to be too generous lor.
