As a Chinese-Canadian/Canadian-Chinese, I feel proud to be bilingual. (and actually it's a credit/benefit to live in a multi cultural country)
Of course, it's very reasonable and to show respect to people, to speak in English to Caucasian here in Vancouver. (provided that you are capable to speak English) But what's the problem for speaking Chinese among Chinese? (provided that both Chinese can speak Chinese)

I migrated to Vancouver not because of it is a English speaking country. I will speak English and Chinese according to different needs and purposes. I still watch Chinese movies and TVB episodes, that doesn't make me a non-Canadian-Chinese. Even I bleach my face to white. I'm still a Chinese but not real white Caucasian. I feel no shame to be a non-Caucasian living in a western country at all.

Some people here and I are yellow, and we don't think we have problem living here in Vancouver. If you are a yellow or whatever, just because of you are not satisfied or not happy here, you can move out.
Even you move to Mainland China, Mandarin speaking Chinese could discriminate Cantonese speaking Chinese anyways. If you can't find the value of yourself, no matter anywhere in the world, you might not be happy. I won't suggest you to kill yourself all because of that, but it's your own business to think what you should do.
