The whole article is unscientific and misleading. I can't believe Lik would believe in these wild claims. If the article actually give us substantive scientific proof, then we will believe in it. Basically, the article just mentioned a number of natural disasters and tried to link it with economic development. Building roads and reservoirs, will not lead to natural disaster like earthquakes or drought which cannot be avoided.

Building roads will not necessarily lead to big landslides. Just look at our Sea to Sky highway to Whistler. Or look at Hong Kong where there are so many roads build along hill sides. Sometimes it is unavoidable to build roads along hill sides for the purposes of transportation.
People complain about using too much underground water. But they also complain about building too many reservoirs which are necessary for storing water for use during periods of drought. Basically, the article contradicts itself.
