Hong Kong never had democracy under the British regime, and yet HK was able to develop its ecconomy. On the other hand, the slumdog millionaire in India are way poorer than China or Hong Kong even though India is democratic.
Japan had experienced rapid economic growth during the Meiji era, long before they had any democracy whatsoever. |
