If you listen to Ella's singing, which is quite good, but still no match for Miriam Yeung and Joey Yung. Miriam and Joey can really sing and perform on stage. They are successful for a reason.

Miriam Yeung is a very good singer. She came from New Talent Singing Awards competition, so she has a certain standard of singing. She does not depend on her looks or figures, unlike Ella. Only immature fans will look for a nice figure in a singer. We are talking about singing skills, not a beauty pageant.

Joey Yung, on the other hand, can sing an dance well on the stage. Again, she does not need to depend on her looks or figures. She is one of the few female singers who can really entertain the audiences on the stage. Therefore, she is the queen of Cantopop right now.

It is hard to spot a rising star. Even if you can find a pretty girl who can sing, who knows how to play the piano, like GEM, still there is no gaurantee that she will succeed.

楊千嬅好有水準?!?  i can see her improvement but far from 好有水準.  went to her van concert years ago, well, next time, i will save my money.  even now, she always 無氣.

She does have very good singing ability. 何韻詩 is another singer who does not need to depend on her looks or figure, unlike Ella.

楊千嬅如果未學過唱歌, 算係唔錯。但作為一個唱左十幾年既職業歌手。真係好差。
HK 其實唔係無人材, 只係HK 樂壇並唔需要人材, 你夠靚仔就得啦。

I am not really a fan of Miriam. But I am just saying female singers like Joey, Miriam, Kelly Chan, Denise Ho etc, are decent singers without relying on good looks or good figure.

It was Big C sis who raised the question why Ella, who is pretty with good figure, is not that popular.

Of course, if you want to include Taiwan, mainland China or Chinese from Malaysia singers, then that's another discussion.

You can always find a singer who has better skills than Eason, Leo, Justin etc, but less popular. But the point here is that, Eason, Leo, Justin etc are successful not because of their looks.

In the case of Theresa, she is not even popular yet. So she does not have a lot of fans. If she is as popular as Kelly Chan, then there is a problem with the fans.
