I don't see how Chinese companies benefit greatly from " 一年高鐵,一年機場擴建".
All these contracts are awarded to various international, Hong Kong and some Chinese companies.
I think I posted linked proving this already. Perhaps you misssed it.
For example:
L.A. Firm Wins Design Contract for $2B Underground High-Speed Rail Terminus in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Express rail link contracts awarded.

As we can see, the contracts of Hong Kong's express rail link are awarded to various foreign, Hong Kong, and Chinese companies, not just Chinese companies.
Hong Kong constructions mainly benefit local Hong Kong workers and imported workers from South East Asia.
But in any case, the scale of infrastructure projects in China are way bigger than those in Hong Kong.
Just Shenzhen alone has more infrastructure projects (railways, subways, airport buildings) going on than in Hong Kong, LOL.
As they are now building a much bigger Disney in Shanghai, they don't need to go to Hong Kong's, LOL.
HK factories were making textiles and toys 30 yrs ago. Now they are still making textiles and toys.
They need to move up the value chain themselves, like those in Taiwan and Korea.
Of course they are not going to squeeze out HK. But HK people need to realize their position. They are more dependent on China than they think. |
