0 METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - From thunder to lightning, hail, and even snow in some areas, there was a little bit of everything as a storm swept through Metro Vancouver over rush hour Thursday evening.
The storm started with a bang; loud thunder throughout many areas. Star Commuter Marie called News1130 when thunder and lightning was centred over south Vancouver. "The flash got me in the eye. Literally, like a camera flash got me in the eye, boom, right at the same time."
News1130's Treena Wood got caught up in the storm in North Burnaby. "I just saw another huge lightning flash and the thunder was right away, like it happened simultaneously."
It was so bad, News1130's Kim Seale landed early. "A combination of visibility problems too, but this thing was huge and it was just rolling in really quickly. We had no idea how long it was going to last, so we just though it was just safer to be back down on the ground."
Star Commuter Kristen says snow was the big problem at SFU. "Snowing like crazy up at SFU mountain in Burnaby. It's a nightmare up there. We're slipping, we're sliding, everyone's rushing to get out."
It didn't take long for the weather to clear up, leaving some blue sky, and even a rainbow.
As one person tweeted, "Yes, Vancouver weather is weird. Embrace it or get over it." |
