I dont think this law can stand up in court under the canadian constitution/charter of rights but by the time it gets through the court system the Olympics will be over. Gordon Campbell's a sneaky little weasel.
This is an abuse of human rights. If this happens in China, anti-China people like Lik will be on a rage. But, of course now, Lik is pretending he does not know about it.

Earlier this week, the association helped two anti-Olympics activists launch a legal challenge of Vancouver's 2010 Olympics bylaw in B.C. Supreme Court, claiming it was an unconstitutional restriction on free speech.
Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson says he's still studying the issue.
"Certainly, groups such as civil liberties have the right to challenge the laws, the bylaws that are made, so we'll respect that process and hopefully it makes those laws stronger and more reasonable," Robertson said.
The association is suspicious of the timing of the provincial bill's introduction so close to the Olympic games, which have been planned for years.
"We've seen them timing things so that they don't put in place laws that are special to the Olympics until the last minute," Holmes said. "And part of that leads to the suspicion that they've done it in a calculated and deliberate way, to remove the ability of the courts, and people who might want to take it to court, to have their rights protected."
The difference is, here in Canada, something like this starts off as a proposed bill. And while VANOC and the provincial government are suspicious for the timing of the proposed bill, both the legislative and the judiciary processes are in place to stop any unconstitutional acts. And, even if the bill passes into law, judiciary review can still be used to overthrow the earlier decision (or at least in theory it's possible).
Does China have such due processes? The Party, the government, and the courts are one and the same. What the Party wishes to happen will generally happen, even if it violates the rights and wishes of the citizens. If such protests / legal challenges were launched in China, the organizers will be taken into custody in no time. We all know what happens to China's 維權人士.

nobody will know if you have anti-olympics posters inside your home. It's only when you hang the posters on the outside your home, then they will take it down. But still it's too heavy handed.
