This is what the current generation of HK citizens think.

To them, everybody should have an iphone and all kids need to be able to attend tutoring sessions and extracurricular activities.

時代不同，窮的定義也不同，好難同以前比，以前人人都一樣窮，所以無問題
問題是在於貧富的差距 ...

this is true
a classic example is if you have two options

1) you make $40K while everyone you know makes $30K or
2) you make $50K while everyone you know makes $60K

many people would choose 1)

too bad that now nuclear warfare does so much damage to the environment
in the old days with swords, you could have a massive war that eliminates population without doing any environmental damage

anyways, it's all over now
earth will still turn without any human
