Do I have to look up the clips show the US police pushed the reportor and his camera to ground when they cleared out a protect?
Don't act like Somewhereintime. If you don't know it, just don't say it. It just makes yourself look foolish.rockypath 發表於 2009-6-5 16:57
Democracy and freedom of speech does not guarantee the complete elimination of free speech interference nor the intervention of free press. Instead, it only minimizes it. Instead, their inherent power lies in the fact that the democratic system offers a recourse (through the courts) to right the wrong that has been committed. Interfere with the press and you face the full wrath and scorn of the entire industry and the citizens. If you do nothing to rectify the problem, the matters will be settled at the courts.
Is there such recourse in Mainland China? The CCP and the courts are so tightly intertwined that they are one and the same. Suppress free speech in PRC, and there is no recourse for the media and its people.
(Thankfully, the tides are slowly starting to shift, and the CCP understands the irreversibility of the tides as well, which is precisely why they try this hard to silence it.)
