he used to live near Garden City and Granville, $600 no bathroom + $50 utilities.
despite he has signed a 6 month lease with the landlord, the landlord emailed him on Jan 14, asked him to move out at the end of Jan, because landlord is going to sell the place. I have told him to ask for compensation, because the landlord can't end the tenancy before Mar 6 ( 6 months from Sep 6). the landlord has to give him 2 months notice and 1 month free rent. My cousin was forced to move out on Feb 6. He has filed a claim in RTO now.
then his classmate's home had a vacant room at that time, $500 including utilities, with his own bathroom (shower, sink and toilet) near Westminster Highway and Garden City, he's better off now...
becareful when you sign anything. I guess the landlord in his 1st stay just came from china, and not familiar with the RTA.....it's really bad, back in Jan 14, it was -5, where can my cousin go if the other room is no available? |
