They need more than a 4 men security team, the security personnel
get  much higher pay  than cashiers; and there must be a supervisor
on duty at all time too. How about janitors?

There is something call Union and job description in Canada.
The security upstairs  have 30 monitors  serveillence  system to keep the security busy,
the janitors would just refuse to do extra work.
Do you know that if you hire someone to move a piano, you have to pay for 3-4 movers?
according to the WCB and union agreement. Superstore is an union shop.

They trust the technology, that is the reason only 1 security guard
standing at the exit  as bouncer, the rest of the team watch the monitors closely.
One or two staff cannot patrol the 50,000 sq.ft. while they have stealth
cameras set up for almost every aisle.
It is not common sense, it is the fact, I know people work for
the security firm working on their contract.
