somewhereintime, don't say you are being OLD CAKE la

I am agree that their wonton noodle are quite expensive at their porton "size" even though they taste good

Nothing wrong with Hon Kong Size, but I have been here for 33 years,. sigh
It would be $10 + GST + Tip for wonton noodle soup, definitely not everyday fare

I haven't had a bowl of wonton noodle soup for > 6 months. So whatever I picked won't be a everyday fare for me anyway.

I admit it is comfort food, and the noodles would actually helps to relieve my heartburn due to the alkali content. However, over $10 on lunch is a little steep for me.

Went to Au Wing Kee for lunch yesterday.
The Free Run chicken was good, soup and seafood stir-fry were
quite all right, price was reasonable.
The problem  is, too much MSG, I couldn't sleep all night and drank
2 litres of water

Are you kidding? When you can afford hamachi and maguro, you should be able to afford wonton noodles.

I spoil myself every now and then, I am frugal so I buy quality products at wholesale price. I eat Hamachi often, I pay $7 a pound for wild Sockeye Salmon, it is cheaper than  lousy farm Atlantic salmon.
May I ask if you would go to Mak Un for wonton noodle soup everyday?
For me, once in a blue moon, the price is not affordable for say, wonton noodles even it is good . Their other items are mediocre.
So please read my post before you start accusing me.
BTW, if you can recall the Wah Lai Yuen in Chinatown, I know the owner well dated back in 1960's and my family sponsored  them to immigrate to Canada in 1972, and I started a large Wonton House in 1983 and  they have generated enough profit to buy a city block. I do consultation works for local Chinese restaurants too.
