I guess the situation in HK and Vancouver is pretty much the same.  If you look at min wages.

HK min. wages is $28.  Just enough to buy BBQ duck lunchbox.
Vancouver is $8, Just enough to buy BBQ duck lunchbox.

Some place in Vancouver are cheaper even after HST, but BC min wage workers still pay Personal income tax, not the case in HK.

I don't know who is worse.

    This is so true.  If the management push too hard. It will back fired.   They tested a few months back try to beat the min. wages.  Remember how did that go?

People in HK can put both company in bankruptcy in a matter of weeks.  Bad image also angers investors ma.
