The B.C. Government will increase the minimum wage, Premier Christy Clark announced Wednesday. The minimum wage will rise in increments, she said, reaching $10.25 per hour by May 2012.
The current minimum wage is $8 an hour, the lowest in Canada. It will increase on May 1, 2011 to $8.75 and be $10.25 per hour by May 2012.
The province will also eliminate the training wage.
"Raising the minimum wage and eliminating the training wage is a fair and reasonable step forward in putting families first and building our economy. This increase could mean more than $4,000 additional dollars annually for a full-time employee, providing more support to B.C. workers and the families who depend on them," Clark said

General Minimum Wage
- Today $8/hr
- May 1/11 $8.75
- Nov 1/11 $9.50
- May 1/12 $10.25

Ask how much an average unionize worker get?
$16-25 is normal:  Janitors, porters, meat cutters,
bakers, mail-sorters, librarians, sailors, street workers
are the on the lower side.
Most jobs, i.e. Starbxxk  Barista at UBC area $16.75 per hour
plus free coffee.
So it is how you justify higher pay job.

Try to get a higher pay job,
it is hard to survive with minimum pay in B.C.

Prelude

No problem, more restaurants will close due to this.

BC government have done everything they can to kill restaurants.
- HST
- Change of the alcohol laws
- No smoking on patio
- Increase the wage of all servers ~30%

$10.25 per hour  is not really helpful.

all the union members are way over-paid,
