I picked mine up at Point Roberts, pay about $10 depot fees and pay the remaining taxes at the border. Then I will have the tires installed at Volco because these guys are the best and fastest in dealing with custom rims.

My Goodyear Eagle RSA (OE) are pretty bad AS tires because when it comes to wet traction, the RSA has none. Driving over puddles, in rainy days are just dangerous. They also wear out quite fast. Other than the bad wet traction, the RSA is good for summer. I hope I could get another summer out of my remaining treads.

I will get some Falken for my new summer set simply because I am cheap.

If you plan to install them in US and drive back, I would suggest you to drive about 300-500km to wear the tire a bit because it's not the first time I've seen custom check the tread thickness at the border. (at least you should pull the "new tire hair" out first)

I just swapped my ContiWinter Contacts for my OE Eagle RSA. Driving in some light rain tonight, I could feel the loss of grip already.

So.. don't get Goodyear.

I think of tires like shoes, you cannot expect a pair of normal casual shoes can become runners or snow boots. You pick the right pair of shoes based on the life style. If you are not an agressive, spirited driver or going to a track; just daily commute does not require any high-end tires. Some of the Continental OE tires like the one on my Versa are quite good. Even they are touring tires (means they last over 80,000km), they seem to perform well in snow, rain and dry. The Michelin HydroEdge is another C9 type tires that I used to have on my family van, they perform quite well and durable.

Of course, if you have rooms in your garage and some $$$, it's not too expensive to have a set of dedicated summer and winter, then you don't have to worry about getting a good set of AS tires. Costco is a good place to shop for tires as they have excellent service and large selection of mainstream tires for the "general audience"

The purpose of the Versa is to save gas and city commute, not race car. It's not my car anyways, so far my parents like it more than my 3. I guess, adults and kidults have 2 opposite expectation on cars.

So far, the Versa is quite good in wet traction, I can drive it into the puddles on Knight without holding my wheel tight. The treadwear seems to be very little. I am quite amazed of the tires when I drive it. Definitely better than my crap RSA. (thank god they will be gone at the end of the year!!)
