If you are in the high risk group, I'd think you should get it.

Tamiflu is an antiviral, which is like antibiotics.  The common side effects are nausea and vomiting.  I won't say it's SUPER strong, but it is used to treat viral infection like flu VS antibioitics for bacterial infections.

A lot of big chain pharmacies actually have the pandemic supply from the government - so it's free.  But they are only free for people who are actually sick.  If you are getting it for just-in-case then you would have to pay for it. But if you have an extended heatlh benefit plan, it would be likely covered as well.

Get it or not now - I would say it depends if you live alone or not.  If, touch wood, you really got it, you probably would be too sick to go out to fill your prescription.  So it would be easier to have it on hand.  However, if you have someone who can pick up your prescription for you, then you can wait till it actually happens first before getting it.  If that's the case, I would leave the prescription on file in your pharmacy, so you just have to call them to order it when you need it and send someone else to pick it up for you.

You are easy to get sick and you consider you are one of the high risk people?
If it is the case, I suggest you to take long vacation and stay at home for at least 3 months from now..

The whole world ...

I dun think he/she considers him/herself to be high risk because he/she gets sick easily - probably the dr mentioned that he/she is in the high risk group.

According to the Canadian flu guide, people who are pregnant, asthmatic, with respiratory or cardiac disease, on immunosuppressive therapy, HIV, under 2, under 18 taking long-term ASA, and over 65 are in the high risk group.
