Don't think professional grade cameras are perfect! Even so called professional cameras, there are professional photographers still complaining for some issues, those cameras still have lots of room to get improved.
A beginner level DSLR is good for a newbie to start, if you really want to learn about DSLR. In fact, if you don't know much about DSLR and you don't spend some time to learn, any prosumer camera can take much better pictures than a DSLR.
