the grand opening show is just spectacular!

however, if anyone watched 向世界出發 III 余慕蓮 episode, she donates 80K HK$ to Chinese province (those interior poor province) and it is almost enough (the local gov't top up another 40K) for building a primary school!!! enough for 300 kids to go to school. now the school is under her name.

It's really mixed feeling to see on one hand China is able to build many grand venue, prepare spectacular show, on the other hand there are people struggle to go to school, and really live below standard of living.

Well, I guess the olympic does bring more positive thing for the local Chinese. There are more tress, more facilities for the public, better transportation (more railway), better air (at least during the olympic period).
And I do feel proud of the achievement ...the grand opening show, all the architecture, etc.
Talking with my cauasian coworker about the olympic, he also said that the show is amazing, and he believed that it truly makes China more well-known to the rest of the world. He is from Eastern European country and he said that in his country, people don't know much about China (not many Chinese nor Asian around. Now with this olympic game, they all know how "grand" China is...
