ken tam's photo above shows very well the correct way to hold the camera, and your subject

on flickr again,  suburbanvoodoo shows how to shoot the harbour

in a photo above, i showed my camera's view of downtown, and the harbour hidden by the trees
and ugly buildings

but i found on flickr, some body posted some photos from the ctv chopper
you can see downtown , stanley park , the harbor , the northshore mountains, and bowen island better

of all the things a photographer want, the most important is the point of view

but one does not need to be on a chopper

if the rapid transit line to richmond is elevated the views will be fantastic

some what like this one
this is what the eagle sees when it looks east
we are looking  out of a window of a house on a slope
at the bottom, the school is on  the valley bed , the creek that runs there
has been covered underground long ago, just like what stupid people do with
rapid transit lines

i have no wide angle lens
instead  stitched 2 photos together
ajust the hightlights and shadows with photoshop
to bring some clouds back into the white out sky
before the rain drops fall
put my camera back into the pouch in a hurry
but the nikon d80 i leave behind did not get wet
because the rain does not come
the guy said he would post some of the nikon d80 photos somewhere on a
chinese website

to bring out the web, i use 2 modes in photoshop
linear dodge , overlay
+sharpening

if you dont know what "linear dodge" and "overlay" modes are
the best explaination of how to use them are found in

such a good book, ( no longer available in the vancouver library
its status is overdue , lost , damaged

but you can get hold of this book right now from the bunaby library
its a thick book , i just browse through some of the step by step examples of how to process photos with photoshop
bruce fraser's techniqes are more elegant that those described in introductory photoshop books

bruce fraser himself, passed away more than a year ago
