Bible's view is that you shouldn't worship false gods.  Who's false god?  That's another topic.

I think this depends on what is the driving force behind playing MJ or poker, etc...

For non-believer's sake it better not to play these kind of games in the public so that they don't get confused, but really MJ or poker is just a game like monopoly if you don't bet money on it.

The driving force for gambling is greed for most of the people.  There will be no casinos if you can't play real money.  If you say gambling gives you excitement that others can't, then you should donate the money you won to charity.

As I've said before, playing MJ in a church is not a good idea because it makes people who don't know think that they're gambling.  Nobody wants this extra trouble and confusion.  When people see MJ, they automatically think it's gambling.  Plus, why do you have to play it in church, there are many other games!  I don't even play cards there.  One should know what's appropriate and what's not.  To do something not that beneficial but may cause harm, it's better not to do it at all or seek alternative.

As for 649, thank God that I've never bought it in my Christian life so you know what's my view.  For a church to accept money donation originated from 649 is a risk and kind of inappropriate, just like the MJ case.  Likewise, do you think a church will accept money originated from a robbery?  There are many people who don't know what's going on and what those people going to say could harm the church's image.

Both science and religion, both never came up with solid physical evidences about how the world came about, so who will you believe or you won't believe either?  In this case, how superior is the scientific method?

Lots of things in this world are intangible.  How do you quantify peace, joy, hope?  You can't so they don't exist, of course not.  Thousands and thousands of Christians throughout history feel more joy, peace and hope after they believed.  Are all of these false witnesses?

BG, you say you don't blindly believe but for some reason you believe how a computer works internally without really knowing how it works.  If nobody tells you how it works, isn't that blindly believe?  You contradict yourself.

peace/joy/hope/etc is just a few attributes, there are more.  If you think there's another religion that provides you the same thing, can you name me a few?

what you believe is one thing...how you act in accordance to your believe is another...I believe if they act in accordance to the Bible, I don't think there will be Crusade.

No.  But if you read his works then what were his reasons for saying that?  He must have supported his views.  I'm not saying I agree to his views or not though.  Well, without the author, I can't comment on it
