what about repair cost compared between the impreza and corolla?

If you plan to use a backyard garage shop or other shops, then not as many mechanics knows or really know how to work on/fix a subaru vs a toyota.
But if you plan to bring it back to dealership for maintenance, then it's same (except slightly higher cost). But it's still cheap compare to European cars.
Subaru has awesome Awd. Compares apple to apple on snow with winter tires on. Then the Subie is so much better. Driving stability is also much better in both in the rain. Relatively speaking, they may have higher resell value. It is overall better as a car for handling, but you do need to pay a tiny bit more on gas and overall maintenance.
By the way, subarea are made very reliable car,you only need to keep up with the basic oil change ...

I did mine every 6000k and I didn't have to do much other than the oil change. Mine is 5.5 years old now.
And yes, I love driving it. Both in the snow, on the hwy and on some unpaved road on the way to camping.
Impreza la, looks better, handles better, and Made in Japan! My only complaint is the rather dull interior.
I don't think both Subaru and Toyota have much room for negotiation. For Subaru you can try the dealership on Cambie (Vancouver). I have heard that it is a bit easier to negotiate there than the Richmond one.
