When I worked at Petcetera, a customer told me that she bought a puppy from Pet Habitat. The puppy refused to eat and had kennel cough. She asked the staff at Pet Habitat about her puppy's eating habbit in the pet store. The staff told her that they put several puppies in the same cage. They put a full bowl of dog food in each cage everytime (I forgot how many times a day). Puppies would eat together. So they have no idea whether the puppies ate or not.

Although Petcetera was a living hell, at least we put each cat & dog in separate cage unless instructed by SPCA. We knew how much they ate. If they were sick, we would call call SPCA to pick them up

ps: only the SPCA animals and in the store that I worked at. For small animals, ha ha...... no comment

LOL@the article when i saw how they used the word "資深" to describe the owner
I am suspecting my first sheltie (bought at that richmond center pet habitat) is from a puppymill too. He looked very 憂鬱 when we got him, plus he does show difference from other shelties since his coat is not as long and his nose is longer. I think he's not very purebre and thus he's probably not from a reputative/quality breeder.

and also forgot to mention
people at pet habitat has no knowledge about the animals (altho they pretend to have some)
They told us to feed my dog only 20 kibbles for one meal and the next day when we took him to the vet for a check, the vet told us our dog was kinda skinny and eat as much as possible

I LOLed at the red paragraph too. Singtao just did a good job on interviewing this owner who 反對買賣養狗工廠的小狗 but then added an extra paragraph stating 亨特公司是從數個養狗工廠買入小狗.

not sure how this got on the news as it is nothing new......
if you go to any dog/ cat/ rabbit/ small animal rescue site this has ALWAYS been a concern

pet store staff generally dont have enough knowledge.. yeah they might have knowledge for one or two types of animals but not for the others.  i bought two of my 3 rabbits in pet stores (first one cuz i didn't know better.. the other one is because i stupidly went into a pet store and saw this bun and felt bad for it so had to take it home... since then i never walked into ANY pet store that sells animals)... they feed bunnies CRAPPY COMMERCIAL DIET with a lot of inappropriate ingredients, a few buns stuffed in a tiny cage, NO hay (hay is ESSENTIAL for bunnies), inappropriate bedding... when i got my first bun i didnt have enough knowledge so the staff sold me a bunch of crap accessories which a lot of them i have no use for in the end, and a lot of them i dont use because they are just inappropriate for bunnies - e.g. harmful chemicals

that's why i was so happy when petcetera closed down... it's really good for the animals!

whenever I was in that freaking small animal "livestock section", I felt like I am Hilter and all those poor small animals are Jews in the central camp. So you can imagine how bad it was. Petcetera staffs are underpaid slave (23000/52weeks/50hours, excluding free OT on average 10-20hours/week. You calculate la, and I was a "high paid assistant manager" since I have a degree!)...... so don't expect a lot. Too bad the new Petcetera still exist.
