WAH ..  how can u hv so many choice ??  

take off 14mmL la.. it is not a lens for newbie .. period ..  

So 16-35 , 24-105 and 70-200 F2.8 IS  are good .. but $5K there already .. which is ok .. but that is a waste for new user.


定係支1.8 既質地真係差 ??    If you think that way ...  then ..      50mm F1.8 is probably better then 24-105 in quality ..  

50F1.8 with flash .. can take WAY nicer pic with MUCH more expensive lens ..  in general.

Don't bother too much, get the 5DII + Kit lens .. and 580EX II first ..   may be in 2 month .. you will be bored .. and many lens coming in 3 yrs anyway.

Go FM or DP for some research la..  dont go HK forum ..   or u will be one of those C hing ..  lol

(I hv those lens about, but 50.8 MKII, so I guess my comment should be fair)

still the same question:

what do you want to shoot?  portrait? family? street?  scenic? travel? wedding? for $?

i'll say stick with the 24-105 for at least 1-2 years before you sink more $ into it ...

部機係ALL PURPOSE 啦…咩都係佢架喇。所以配合方面希望全面少少。
起初相信會係風景小品街頭旅行攝影多啲，主要係用嚟練習手勢。
等到對自己手勢有番咁上下熟識既時候會加入人象攝影。
到咗面面俱圓既時候就考慮去幫人影吓相賺番啲架生錢，呵呵呵… (相信都要好幾年後先得lu )。

50mm f/1.8 II 呢支鏡喺唔夠光既時候係唔係好難自動對焦？呢個就係我喺各大FORUM 見倒最常出現既問題…
不過以一百個大洋咁上下既價錢就有支大光圈玩都應該no complain。

閃燈將會喺我個 【購物清單 - 第二階段】 出現。
我個 【購物清單 - 第一階段】 只係有相機連鏡，MEMORY CARD，相機袋，同埋FILTER。
而個 【購物清單 - 第二階段】 會有閃燈腳架同BATTERY GRIP。

It's in my experience that the 1Dx series camera focus better/accurately in all lighting condition.  However, once you can very good at it, I think they all focus very well with proper techni.  I use lots of the older non USM prime lens that focus perfectly fine in all condition.

NO FLASH TO START ??

HOW CAN YOU TAKE PIC WITHOUT FLASH??   

ESP in DEC ..   after 5PM .. the sky is totally DARK already ..  and many parties .. nite shots .. etc ..

How ???

Kid ..  get a FLASH !!!  


FLASH can help you to do low light focus too ..  

I hv 50mm F1.8 MK I, 50mm F1.4, 50mm Macro, 50mm L ..   which my 50mm MKI is 20 yr old already .. NEVER have any issue for low light photography..   (MK II should be better or at least the same for low light AF)

Come on ..  you know me in person ..   3X yr old mid cake ..  of course, 50mm METAL la..  

I am still using it, and take it with me when I go travel 20 yr old lens .. and IMO, can kick many " L " lens users ass .... end up my 50L and 50.4 are more or less collect dust ...

I just want to say again .. " Photo" graphy ..  PHOTO ..  all about LIGHT!!!   LIGHT source is more important then anything!  doesn't matter how high iso nowaday camera can handle!!

I used to use a all-purpose 28-105mm zoom lens and think that's one of the best lens ( well, consumer grade ) -- until I bought a 50mm f1.8 ( nikon ) and that is simply an eye opener to my new world of photography.  It's sharp, light weight, shallow depth of field, good bokeh, great in low light and easy to focus ( well, Nikon does... not sure on Canon ).  Since then, my 28-105mm got stored in cabinet.  

If you have spare charge for 100 bucks, why not keep an extra toy to compare?

I do agree with what Catpiano says: flash is second to my camera.  I started digital photography with a cheapo D50, while still spent a whole whack on SB-800.  It brightens indoor, and fills under sun.  Even my wife says go get a good flash.  Haha.

  Yes ar ..  I still once a while, using my Rebal ..  still not bad ga ..  better then many " C HING " with D3 tim ..   lol
